I think the more Autocrosses that are available to anyone in the Richmond area, no matter what club is hosting them is a good idea and good for the AutoX sport in our area because it is hard enough to get a good location with limited sites around here.

I am excited about these events. From what I understand, the course will be about twice the size of a typical Richmond AutoX and with NASA being well- known for making sure everyone gets A LOT of runs (maybe twice that of a typical AutoX?) - for maybe a few bucks more (what? 10?) - count me in!
More importantly, I am just glad that there are going to be more AutoX resources and opportunities in the Richmond area. The exisiting club(s) do a fine job - but the more organizations putting these events on means more seat time in the cones for all of us. And that is all that matters.
I sense from what I've read in a variety of forums there is a VMSC vs. NASA theme - this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. There are PLENTY of people who want to AutoX in the region. Enough to fill just about every event - no matter how many are put on. As long as the organization is putting on SAFE and ORGANIZED events - that is all that matters. People WILL sign up - no matter who is running it. And from everything I've heard, VMSC
and
NASA are very safe and organized events.
See ya'll in the cones....

Please reread the 8/31 (8:04 PM) post, especially the "these events are very clearly separate from...NASA" part. This is not a NASA event, apparently NASA is only providing sanctioning and insurance for 2 non profit organizations. So there is no VMSC vs. NASA theme here. My point is that there was entirely too much advertising of another groups events on the VMSC forum. Updates every day or every other day are excessive; we don't do this for our own events. Weekly updates would be fine, well organized events should sell themselves without a lot of extra publicity. PLEASE NOTE THAT JON HAS ALREADY RESPONDED TO MY (PERSONAL) COMMENTS AND I APPRECIATE HIS RESPONSE. I do not want him to stop telling us about his events, it's just that we don't need so many reminders.

Gene, I definitely respect your wishes. The whole reason for the updates was so people who were thinking about signing up... knew when it was getting close to full. Also because NASA hasn't held any autoXes "in town" since the demise of Cloverleaf, so we're just trying to get the word out. But I have apologized, and it won't happen again.
However- these are most definitely official NASA events, except in terms of how/where the money is handled. All I was explaining in the post you mentioned was that the NASA Mid-Atlantic autocrosses are not specifically "for profit" (as per Ceecpa's post just above it "Because NASA is a profit-seeking organization I would be skeptical of anything they say.")
Thanks again and take care,
Jon

Interesting spot you guys got. (no im not going to say where. that for getfast to do), but its not where i was expecting.. i was thinking more in lines with Phillp Morris and Dupont. I will be showing up.. dont know if i will be driving or not though. Threw my back out yesterday. It does take a bit to come back around and i should lay off straining it for a bit. With that said is it ok if i get someone else who is let say in the First or Second heat to drive in my place

Indeed. This is one of the busiest months of the year
Registration is open for NASA's 10/29 Fall TripleCross Round 1 at the new site:
http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmEventDetail.Show?psevent_id=6063
Signups have been light so far. If we don't get 60 cars on the list by 5pm Fri 10/20, we'll be forced to cancel.
Thanks,
Jon
