Except
I'm
not
doing
the results for this event. We have this new idea that, for each autocross, one of the ODs gets together with one of the Timing folks to check the results. Audie and I did it for the first event. Whoever has the PC right now is probably one of the people doing it for this event. I asked Joe at the end of the event and he innocently picked Wednesday.
This is what I get for spoiling you people.

This is a joke. In the age of computers and advanced timing, it's taking as long, (or longer), to get results than it did in the age of hand written results, and "snail mail". :wtf:

I'm with Bill. When I started autocrossing the times were taken "rally style" from a constant ly moving sundial. Then a scribe would scratch the appropriate pictographs into a clay tablet with a pointed stick. After each run group the tablets were placed in the sun to harden and make the results "offical". They were then placed in plain view at the end of the day for everyone to see.
But seriously...
While the posts in this thread are generally light hearted, there is an under current of dissatisfaction. And not by chronic whiners either, but by hard working folks who give their time and effort to put on the events. I hope this is a one off and doesn't become the norm.

Ray made me think of something... I'm not saying this is the what's going on here, but I've noticed something about life when coaching little league baseball. You'd think a local baseball league is simple to run. You've got teams, coaches, players, umpires. They play games, teams win and lose.
It's not qute that simple, there are strict rules that must be followed to preserve fairness. There are good, bad and questionable calls. You play by the umpire's rules. We get people who think they know it all and complain about calls, but I don't see them out there umpiring. There are people who complain about the board members, but I don't see them running for a board position. Hell, I don't even see them voting on board members. My common responses to these people are, "You could umpire!" and"You could vote/run for board!"
Like Ray said, some hard working people are posting to this thread.
If that were not
the case, I'd say "You could've done the results!"
That being said, Where you at, Lonnie!?

It's one thing to gripe and moan, but offer nothing towards a solution. I have done results before, in fact, offered to do them FOR an OD so that they could be posted in a timely manner.
At this point a simple "Sorry guys my pet ostrich swallowed my curling iron and was rushed to a special vet in Australia...." or something to let us know what the problem is. I don't know of any problems that were encountered in T/S at the event. Knowing that results can, in most cases for most clubs, be checked and submitted in a day or so just makes this seem odd. If I had volunteered to do results, I would make sure that they got done, end of rant. In fact, I offer here and now to get the cards and do them MYSELF.
BTW - Daniel this is not aimed at you. I understand your point. Just wanted to make sure I was grouped with the people who have contributed.

I made no grouping per se...
The little league is an example--they were a bunch of complainers who wouldn't step up. I'm not sure if the VMSC board has a people who think they could do better but won't step up. Beats me.

The only thing I have to contribute is to rip off a little Shakespeare. "Discretion is the better part of valor."
As one of the people who has been borderline drowning in workload the past week, I fully understand that we all have commitments which are of higher priority than autocross. I know unforseen circumstances arise that force us to redirect our efforts. However, if that is the case, I don't think anyone would hold it against a results tabulator who says "guys, I can't do this right now, there's too much on my plate. Can someone else take this over?"
IF that was ever mentioned as a possible issue, and nobody stepped up, there would be NO room for anyone else to complain. I think that if a request was ever put out to do results or a lot of other things, you'd have people step up to help out, but you can't solve a problem you don't know about.
Sure there are idle complainers, but some of us have been willing to help out where we can.

In this particular matter, it has not been a problem of "stepping-up" (I'm happy to say that...)
No one knows what the problem is. No one has heard.
Hoping some info will come to light at the Board meeting tonight.
