When we're not autocrossing, this is most likely where we'll be! We just completed Round 1 this past weekend;

Awesome weekend at the track! It was a bit of a steep learning curve, but we made steady progress all day; Tyrel would have qualified 5th or 6th if he hadn't spun out, but it's all part of learning the track.
We kept adjusting on the kart all day and the lap times kept falling. We gained 5 seconds on a best lap time, but a lot of it also came from him just learning the track and getting the kart where it needed to be to run well. All in all, we had a blast... I'm so happy for him!

From Saturday March 26, 2015;

Very frustrating day at the track yesterday. Our lap times fell a bit from Friday. To add to that, we had some mechanical problems that were easily fixed. We definitely saw the potential we have up to this point during Friday practice...I think we just tried one too many things to improve on it more, and couldn't get it back on Saturday.
We soldiered through it, though, and managed to get back some of the performance we'd had on Friday. We've got another month to get things straightend out. At least we managed to hold onto 5th in the points! Looking forward to Round 3!!!

Well what do you know? Little Man made his first career podium this weekend! I was sick as a dog, but this made it all worth while!

Here's some video of one of his best heat races so far; his lap times are starting to get far more consistent!

We had what seemed like a very successful wet weather practice today. We really won't know what we have until tomorrow; the forecast is very wet, lol...keeping our fingers crossed!

Awesome weekend at the track; it didn't end quite like we wanted it to, but we made so much progress with our overall setup! Here's some neat video of the Pre Final race; the kids were really working well together, plenty of give and take, to put on a great show.

The final was a rain out, nothing much going on there. Still, Tyrel managed to hold onto 4th in the standings for another round.

Tony, at least Tyrel got some rain practice. How often do you run down in NC?

Usually just  once a month . Unfortunately Tyrel will be moving to Hawaii to live with his mother this summer so next month's event will probably be his last; it's a shame because he's been making so much progress and needless to say I'll miss him terribly. Sad

My first race weekend report;

Wow, what a weekend! It all started with a late night engine change, followed by two chilly, slippery practice sessions, With practically no track time on Friday practice, I struggled most of the morning, but managed to make it through ok. My 3rd place finish slotted me into the 7th position in the standings...I'll be trying to get at least one more position before the season ends!

This was by far my best outing yet! I was getting pretty close to the 2nd place driver in my division, but there were 1 or 2 karts in between us most of the race and I never quite got an opportunity to get to him!

I learned a lot this weekend on how to setup the kart as well as learning the track more. It's a shame the season is almost at an end! Smiley

What a way to end the season...with my first career victory at GoPro Motorplex! Smiley

The season finale was a wild race; there were a few crashes...I managed to slip by a couple, stay out of trouble to hold on for the win in my division!

The morning started out a little rough; popped a chain during morning practice, and had to miss qualifying. I started the pre-final dead last, had a chance to advance, but spun out avoiding another driver who had also spun. I guess like they say, it isn't over 'till it's over!
