Here are the results from today's autocross. Congrats to Ben taking FTD over Bobby, and Courtney getting top Pax. All three drivers are well known and respected on the local and even national level. Keep coming out to our events.
Good job to that trailered GT3 for finally beating all the civics

James,
Great job on the quick posting. Would you please make a couple of changes. I know, I know it's just gonna mess up everything...but, I was running my wife's car last Sunday. John Peddy in STS should be in ES with a 2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder or you could just list it as "my wife's car" she would be proud. The other Peddy in STS is shown as "Peddy, 245." Don't know how that happened but her real first name is Bailey. Thanks

How did numbers 0 and 150 get times, weren't those the two who did not show up to work their station? Is there some penalty for not working...if we all did that there would be no AXing?

If we got to vote.....I would say if you don't work your station then you don't get times and don't get to participate in the next three events. That might motivate some folks!

It's true, there is a lot of people that do a lot of extra work so everybody can have fun, unless they come up with a great excuse I would say ban these people for the rest of the season. Of course this is a club with members and board and I am sure the board will talk about that and make the right decision whatever that would be.

This will be brought up in the board meeting. We just don't want to jump to any conclusions.
We are very accommodating and can find a way for anyone to do their work assignment. Please just ask beforehand.
We also have 80+ year old people standing out in the sun and the ODs are there from 7-6 sometimes the day before too!

It sounded like we are forcing 80 year olds to stand out in the sun! I am just pointing out they volunteer just like everyone else.
thanks to everyone who helps

Please don't get my intentions wrong
. This organization continues to impress me time and time again, that is why I am a member!! And I know there are always things out of our control.....trust me I have three little ones (6/4/2 lots of unexpected things happen in my life)....but in that case I would pull a board member aside plea my case and make arrangements to make it up to the club. There are also folks that have put years into VMSC and at times deserve an exception, especially our elders!! But flat out just not showing up is wrong.. I agree that the board will make the right decision!

Waaaaaaay back, (as of 1975 anyway), we had folks volunteer to work the course. This was when we ran 10 car heats, and ran in numeric order. Once cars 1-10 were on their last run, cars 11-20 started to grid themselves, without having to be instructed. There would be a very brief break to change course workers, then we were off again. And we ran 100+ cars back then too. Once we started having problems getting course workers, ( and somewhere around here we began 20+ car heats), we went to a "work the heat after you ran" concept, with the last heat assisting with course take down. The first heat was generally staffed by volunteers or "hardship" issues where someone had to leave early. The last technique was to work the second heat after you ran. !st works 3rd, 2nd works 4th, etc. This was to allow time to swap tires, grab lunch or whatever. We did have a policy of being DQ'd if you did not work, and hadn't spoken with an OD, or club official regarding why. Trading or volunteering to work for someone was allowed.

Well I'll chime in on this one, we have two drivers out of 104 that skipped class!
So I think I have a solution without really taking to drastic of measures.
If we find folks skipping out on work assignments we just need to note it and not post their times.
If they sign up for the next race the skippers (from this point on this is what I'll call them) will have to work the first heat (make them work first) and for skipping they run in the last heat and help clean up and cant leave till the O.D. says. If they don't agree then tell the skippers to walk.

That's how it was all those years ago. If a competitor didn't work or have someone work for them, (without the permission of the OD or other club official), they had DQ beside their name. No times posted. But like many other rules that aren't needed with any real frequency, we become a bit complacent and assume everyone will play nice. Mention it at the drivers meeting and enforce it.

Car 0 was taken care of; someone stepped up and said they'd take her work assignment.
I have no problem at all with that, the end result is we have enough workers so that's fine.
I don't know about car 150.
