What is this used for?  I'm not in the runner for the winner of anything I'm just curious.  Is the winner of each class pulled from this list or is it only the points acrude during the actual races?

All of these points are used for trophies at the end of the season. There are a few ways to trophy:

Top 5 Street
Top 5 Street Mod.
Top 5 Modified
and Marquis trophies for the most speed points driven in a certain brand of car.

The stats that I am showing here are for overall points. The number of trophies for overall points will be determined at the end of the season, and members get to take advantage of this.

Great thanks.  So since these points include meetings, schools, etc everything really is a competitive event(since they effect your standing at the end of the year)?

Non-competitive events such as meetings, being an OD, etc. count towards the overall club championship.  The Speed Trophies (3 classes - Street (formerly stock), Street Prepared (which includes ST, STS, STX, STU), and Prepared/Modified)) are based on points for competitive events only. In either case, only members accumulate points and receive trophies, although you can join later in the year and have all of your events count.

The classing is more complicated then ever, or is it just me ?

I see stock classes street (street tyre) and R (R-compound DOT)

Street prepared R (R-compound DOT) and all the ST STS, STX, STU

Prepared (CP/FP/XP/etc.) Modified (A/B/C/D/E) SM, CAM ??

I'm the only one who is confused ?

That's why I think I'm safe staying in Ferdinad Porsche class

Cheers

Street/Stock is a new issue brought to you by the SCCA. I agree it is crazy. in all likelihood, the only R-comp stock class that will remain next year is SS.

VMSC has grouped the STx classes with SP for speed trophies since I have been a member. Nothing new there.

No clue where CAM goes. The SCCA answer would be it is experimental and not eligible for year-end trophies. The Baord will have to wrestle with this task me point. SCCA didn't give it a PAX, we gave it an .840 (I think), and Tidewater gave it a 1.0. Now that is confusing!

You should stick with FP.

I get it now thanks.  And Engelbert next year I'm coming for your Porsche Trophy! The only thing that stands in my way is finding a pile of driver skill and cash!

By the way are the speed points kept any where?  I can't imagine how difficult it is to stay on top of all of this.

You are already on the way to get it, with your Stock PAX you will beat me every time.

Looks like I need to come up with a air-cooled 911 trophy.... actually the trophy has a air-cooled 3L piston on it. We need a H2O P-car trophy.. LOL

Anyway, at the end of the year most points that what counts.

Cheers

At least I have a shot at a manufacturer title, or does there have to be more than one to qualify?

Only one, speaking from experience!

But you may have to supply the trophy yourself if we don't already have one.
(Dealers are often amenable to contributing a few dollars if you put their logo on it.)

Tip:  Don't make a trophy too big to fit in the car you won it with.   Grin

I assume by your avatar that you have the yellow 355. At this time, I do not think there is a Ferrari trophy, but if there were, I think we could group it together as the "exotics" trophy, which could include:

Ferrari
Lotus
Lamborghini
Maserati
Panoz
Noble
etc etc etc..

Most of these car seldom ever make a appearance at a AutoX though (except Lotus?)

That was a bit tongue in cheek as apparently I'm the only one dumb enough to actually drive their Ferrari (the horror), but I can donate some broken Ferrari (FIAT marked up 10x) parts for a trophy.

Well, perhaps having a "exotics" trophy will encourage owners of their Ferrari's, or whatever, to drive their cars more! You, sir, are doing it right imo. Wink

This man deserves a trophy, also if I ever beat him I might need to make myself a "I beat a Ferrari" trophy or at least a t shirt.
