I have a few sports cars more than 30 years old.  The SCCA rules point out that only cars produced within the last 30 years are eligible to run in Street class for National Events.  The cars would otherwise be classed as HS.  Does VMSC require that cars be <30 years old to run in a Street Class?

Thanks,
Chuck Edwards

You should be fine, Chuck. We look forward to seeing what you will be racing.

Chuck, is the question whether or not you can run in Street with a vehicle over 30 years of age? If it is, I would certainly think so. We're not 100% on other new classing rules, so you should be fine. I just looked at the rules for Street, and both the Corvair and Vega are classed, so you should be just fine.

Thanks for the help.  Betsy and I will be running a "grudge" match. She'll be running her Sunbeam and I'll run a TR4.  Betsy will have to be in Prepared but I know the contents of her engine: lightened Chevrolet rods and an aggressive camshaft plus a Weber 32/36 DGV.  I will be running my stock TR4.  The torque difference between the two engines will be significant in favor of the TR4, but we won't be competitive with modern vehicles due to refinements over the last 50 years.  Still, we're snarling at each other and anxious to see what happens.
