All trackworthy makes/models are welcome, and you don't have to be a Porsche club member to join in the fun. Registration opens Feb 17th, and trust me it sells out FAST. (I got waitlisted myself last year!) http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/event.advert/id/3FCDD33E-FC7C-E3E5-65D9B1EB0FF865D5Most folks stay at the Sleep Inn in Danville; they have a special rate for track events but you have to reserve by phone to ask for it. ( Don't use the hotels.com link on the registration page!)

For some reason, I thought this was happening in March when I looked at the PCA calendar and that it overlapped with LeMons. I can definitely attend this date. Gunny, Ricardo - what do you think?

Found why I had March in my head. Why does the FSR PCA DE site say March? So confusing, that site says March, Motorsport Reg has the May date and the national PCA site shows neither of those!

Easy answer!
The event in March is the "Zone 2" DE, which many folks from the First Settlers regional club also attend. (The PCA groups regional clubs into Zones, and Zone 2 is the one that First Settlers belongs to.)
I hear the Zone 2 DE in March is just as much fun as the ones with First Settlers (which are May & Sept), just run by different people. And colder. I prefer to wait for May.

And you don't want to show her how beautiful southern VA is in the spring?

If you want to stay at the track and avoid the commute from Danville, reservations can be made now. http://virresort.com/lodging/

Ricardo, when will your mother be here exactly? There are a few other events already up on motorsport reg including another PCA event on June 1-2 on Summit Point Shenandoah Circuit. There are also a bunch of BMW CCA ones up there. Gunny - that would give you the chance to try and pass not just one BMW driver, but a whole lot of them

Ok this doesn't seem like its going anywhere for a choice. Beth is going with May , Marc is going with May and I really do want to drive on VIR (I've done countless virtual laps in a simulator) so I'm in for May at VIR

BTW Marc reminded me - if you have an RV you can stay for cheap right in the paddock.

You don't need an RV to stay in the paddock, just a tent (or the back seat of your car)! Also, it appears as though they've opened registration. I've signed up. I hope I get in, especially now that I'm a legitimate FSR PCA member!

Thanks for the tip!! I thought it wasn't opening until Sunday. I'm signed up too - my first DE in Blue group! No tent for me though, I have a room at the Lodge. So Justin - you going to start coming to the 1st-Saturday breakfasts at the Silver Diner now?

Hmmm... I'm suspicious - Justin and I are the ONLY ones signed up so far. Let me double check and make sure registration really is supposed to be open. ...OK, just heard back from the FSR registrar (Marco Estrada). He says it's "unofficially" open and we're good to go!

On-site options: http://virresort.com/lodging/ The Paddock (Pit Row) suites are pretty bare-bones, but they are right on the front straight; you can walk pretty much everywhere you need to be. Beds fold up into the wall for parties. The Lodge is a little further away but still close; has a nice view of turns 4 & 5. (Of course when there's stuff happening on the track, you wouldn't be in your room anyway. ) Off-site options:VIR recommends the Fairfield Inn, but I know nothing about it. Everyone I know that doesn't stay at the track stays at the Sleep Inn in Danville. They have a special "track rate" but you have to reserve by phone and ask for it. Much cheaper than staying at the track, but allow 25-30 mins each way for the commute. Don't use any of the Hotel links at motorsportreg.com, they are 'sponsored' and won't give you the track discount. p.s. to Ricardo: Get a Villa Suite for your mom & Giselle, they'll love it.
