Several people have asked about my in-car camera.  I have a Contour HD, which I like a lot.
However there is a newer model now, the Contour ROAM, and it is normally $180 at Amazon
but is currently on sale for about $140.  It has a wider field of view and nicer optics than the
HD, but is otherwise basically the same camera.

I just ordered one, so if you don't need to buy the newest model my HD will be available soon
for cheap.   Grin

I like it better.  It's simpler.
But it's really a personal taste thing I think.

can you post a video for us that was made with the camera your selling?
I'm interested.

All the autocross videos I have posted (including last season) have been with the old camera.

e.g. this one from the Sept event:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xavDrYfK1Y
Sunnier day example (June 10):      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEfTzMsm0yg

It's a simpler camera than the GoPro, which is both good and bad.
The good is, there's less to get wrong.  The bad is, there's less you can adjust out in the field.

With the Contour cameras, you select your settings via your PC ahead of time, including
resolution, framing rate, audio level, etc.  Then during your event you just have to make
sure it's powered on, then slide the big record button to start recording (easy to do even
with gloves on).  It beeps once to tell you it's recording, and twice when you stop it.

But the coolest part it, it has Laser Beams to help you aim it.   Grin
The lens rotates 180 degrees so you can mount it almost any angle and still record horizontally.

For more details, here's the Amazon listing for the old camera.
It has a lot of settings that I never even got around to trying.

Along with the camera and originally included accessories, I have the waterproof case
(never used) and the windshield suction cup mount (used a lot, works great).

You can also buy an extra battery pack for it, but I never needed one.  I just charged it up
the night before and it was good for the day.  Not just 6 mins of autocross either, it did up
to 2 hours of track day video just fine too:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTRSlteDEDE

BTW I'll have both cameras at tomorrow's autocross at MEP,
in case anyone is thinking they might be interested in the old one.
