Hi all,
New member here looking to maybe autocross this Sunday. I just picked up a new to me 92 miata and had a couple questions I figured I'd ask before coming out. Its a solid car but two issues I know will need addressing at least before inspection but don't know how they'd apply here. First, the airbag light blinks. This is known to be a common problem on these cars due to leaking capacitors on the control module board. I've unplugged it for the time now as a solid light is less annoying than blinking but will this fail me for tech? Second being the tires on it are pretty worn and down to right about 2 or 3/32. Don't know if there's a tread depth limit for anything that can find. The car is totally stock right now so I plan on trying e-stock if that matters. I tried my accord at an event last year but didn't want to run the DD that hard. Oh well, look forward to joining you all this weekend if not later this summer.

The tires seem to be OK if no cord is showing.
I am not sure about the airbag. You may get some replies from the forum. I would definitly come out and run.

Airbags shouldn't be an issue unless there's any danger that they'd go off in your face while you're running.  If they're disconnected, then you should be fine.  You shouldn't be thinking about slamming into anything anyway.

If you're concerned about the lack of a functional airbag in your car, just install a speaker in your steering column, and tune your radio to a station with a political talk show.

Your tires should have rubber all the way around, but tread isn't a concern.  We have plenty of folks on tires that are intentionally slicks; you can play it off like you're just fitting in with the super-serious.

Sweet! definitely not trying to hit anything at all. I've pulled the module out along with the fuses right now so it should be essentially disabled. I might grab some tires anyway if I've got the time but it might be fun to slide around on the old ones and give them a send off.
