VMSC dates from 1950 having been formed by UVA students when sports cars were just becoming popular in the United States.  But its never had a home.  When I was a lad it met in the Branch House on Monument Avenue and I got accustomed to such impressive surroundings.  Meeting in a restaurant is so transitory.

How about buying a place?  If 1000 folks can come up with $1,000 we'd have a cool one million dollars.  Too unlikely?  Well, 100 folks with $1,000 would produce $100,000.  Wouldn't that procure a site for a home?  It'd be a start.

If you build it . . . they might come? Wonder if there might be some chance of working with NCCAR to help them finish their asphalt corn field in exchange for a gate key and usage X weekends/month (or year)? Their primary use is during the week so they might be willing to work something like that. Long drive but a great facility. Eventually they are supposed to have a large paved area.

Buy my old house.  $53,000 will drive it away today.  Seriously.

There is a big garage, a driveway that can accomodate four cars, a big backyard, a fieldstone barbecue pit with fieldstone patio and cedar shelter, and the house itself ... is a house.

It's also only a mile's walk from RRC, so if you have mechanical issues during an event, you could cart your ride over there on a trailer and fix it in the garage/driveway at your leisure.

Also, the long driveway and fenced backyard would be ideal for the VMSC trailer.

BUY IT.  YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.
