I tried to register my permanent number "31" for the 2012 season, and get this message

"Sorry, the number choices you specified are currently taken for this event or are reserved to other entrants."

If I look at the entry list there is no "31" listed. Does anybody know what's the problem ? If I can't get 31 I will take 911  Grin

I'm using last year's permanent number list to reserve the numbers for this year's signup...if that makes any sense.  As a result, you have to use the same email address as last year.  I'll PM yours to you and let me know if using that email address doesn't work.

I find this very strange.  I made a minor change to the start date of the event, if you don't mind trying again and letting me know the outcome I would appreciate it.

I was able to register for my number, despite also having it in last year's permanent number list (which is what I was thinking was causing the problem).  If this fails for some reason, we'll remove the number restriction (using last year's numbers to hold numbers for this year's signup) and send an email to last year's permanent number holders telling them to sign up quickly.  Removing the number restriction means anyone could sign up for your number, which is why I don't want to do it without trying a couple other things first though.

Okay, I just tried it again and got the following eror:

"Sorry, the number choices you specified are currently taken for this event or are reserved to other entrants."

Personally, I'm not in favor of you removing the block to the reserved numbers as I suspect that will result in people losing their reserved numbers. Maybe you can create a separate registration page just for existing permanent number holders?

We can't have two separate permanent number events and we can't manually merge two events that are created separately (or enforce who could sign up for the one that we specify is for last year's number holders).  I've emailed the MAE support staff/guy and will see what he says.

The issue is that someone manually added your permanent numbers last year, so they aren't associated with your account.  The only way around this is going to be manual, through MAE support.  Dennis and Marc - yours should be fixed, see if you can register now.

If anyone else has an issue, please let me know.  I'll batch up the folks with problems and submit them together.  I've already instructed people not to manually add anyone to the permanent number event so this shouldn't happen again.

I think I had yours I imagine you flip your numbers with your co-driver so I tried for #1 hopefully not stepping on toes 71 is probably free to take now.

I am having the same problem and I know I am using the same e-mail address.

The issue has to do with us adding permanent number holders manually last year, which means they were not associated with that users account.  I've removed the hold which saved last year's permanent numbers for those folks this year, but have published a list of those numbers on the registration page.

If you had a number last year and had any issues registering, go ahead and do it now.  If you are picking a new number, don't pick it from the list on the registration page or I may change it on you!
