My Garage Build - The Airboxer Garage

I posted some info and picture before, and decided to move it in a new thread.

Here is it before, and unfinished:

I also used the unfinished garage to build a paint booth to paint the green 911.



That's all gone, and the construction has started.


I was able to do the insulation of the roof last winter

R30.... the point was to do the whole roof and do not the ceiling of the garage.

Here is what the upstairs looked like





Next is to install the electrical.

After the ellectrical and the insulation was done, I got some help over Labor day weekend to install the drywall.



Yes, the posting is a little behind the work.

Finished the drywall. Ceiling painted and the lights are up, trim and storage area.







Walls are painted



The overhead storage is ready for paint on the trim. I installed some recessed 12V lights I still had ( brought them back from Germany when we build the house) and did not use in the house.



Instead of Halogen, I used LED



Installing some German 220V outlets for my left over power tools I still have from good old Germany.









Next is to finish up all the trim, the sliding doors for the over head storage, install the rest of the outlets and order the 2 post lift.

BTW that's a great panorama - did you use a special camera for it, or just stitch photos together with software?

Thanks, I fixed the original link. I used my Digital camara with Panorama support, and stitched it with photosynt.

Here more progress. I got the lift.





















I have to close the door to lift the car all the way up,

but then it is high enough to stand underneed.

Got some IKEA Wall cabinets, and found out, not everything is made in China.

Made in Slovakia !

OK, This what it looks like now, after the last weekend, just in time. I got my very own Christmas gift, or Weihnachtsgeschenk








I use 1x4 trim to frame it in, at the side and top. Then I chauked between the trim and the sheetrock.

I think it's time for an update.

I installed the stereo ( I still had this one sitting around, the 50 CD player died and I was not able to get rid of it)



Build a box and installed it in a place, I could not use for anything else.

I made some supports for the speakers







Sounds nice for a garage

Here is how I get the last drop out of the oil jars:

Build a little holder from scrap wood pieces.



Now I found a paper roll I saved from the trash and made a roll holder to scribble on or to use a piece to pack up stuff.



When the paper is gone I can use it as a dry erase bord, I glued a white left over piece of paneling on it.

Unplanned project came up after the dyno day.

Here is what I'm doing. I still hope to have the Froggy ready for April 31.






I found that the engine had 2 broken head studs, so last year I was runing with a sick engine

Did you find low compression on those two cylinders?  Just wondering if you saw any signs prior to the teardown.

Yes, when I came home from the Dyno, I did a compression test, which didn't look that bad. However, the leakdown test showed the real picture. I found also an other issue. The resonance solenoid does not switch, must be the DME.

Are those ARP studs that were broken? I'm not sure I've ever seen someone break those.

The ARP are the rod bolts. My issue is the head studs. Anyway, I will fix the thing one way or another.

I picked up all the parts from LT and it looks like I'm rebuilding the engine on my own.

As long I can finances the parts I need, with the tickets. However, you are always welcome to come and clean parts, there are a lot parts to clean.

It's all just a hobby, the cars, the Wood workshop, Etc.

Your block looks nice. What did you use to get everything so clean?

The crank case and the Cam towers are a royal pain to get clean. I used oil eater, scotch brite, scrapers, dentist tools, used up my fingers, carburater cleaner, etc. I'm getting set up with soda blasting for some other small parts, going forward.

You get that soda blasta going and you will have all kinds of friends over helping so they can use it!
