Fund Raiser at Sept. 11 event?

I'm not sure how possible this is, since the ACCA Temple does their own fundraising, but was wondering if we could have a collection going for the Hurricane Katrina Disaster Fund with the Red Cross?  Or perhaps a portion of the registration money could be donated?

I have already brought this question up at our board meeting this past thursday.
The ACCA is a members only event, so there will be only 75 or so people there. We then decided to make the following event (at VMP) on Sept. 25 a charity event. We are getting in touch with the local Red Cross as we speak.
True, the event is a couple of weeks away, but at the current state of devestation they will be needing donations for a long long time
