Results for the 03/21/2010 autocross are posted
here on MyAutoEvents
. Thanks to everyone who came out, we couldn't have asked for better weather.
Gunny and I will be working with the timing system to figure out why we were having so many random errors throughout the day. And thanks to James Churchill, we'll be able to elevate the timers off the ground to prevent blowing leaves and debris on the ground from tripping the sensors.
See you in a few weeks back at RIR on the 11th. Don't forget we also have a school on the 10th. Registration for the school is open on MyAutoEvents now.

Great event, guys. Forgot how fun it could be to run with a "small" region, in a non-prepped car. Brought out my DD 3 today on street tires, and has as much fun at today's event as I've had at a National Tour or Divisional. You all put on a ROCKIN' show, and if I've got open weekends during the season, I'm pretty sure myself and my buddies with the F125s will be back. GREAT group. Was REALLY impressed.

even though I was just a spectator/talking ballast for some folks, due to the fact that I'm still around a week away from having my driver's license, I had an absolutely amazing time. It was my first autocross ever, and before my first run in the #21 BMW Z3 (driver name escapes me at the moment, and I can't get to MyAutoEvents.com from my school computer) I was hooked. I got signed up for the April 10th autocross school and the autocross the following day, so I should be a bit more than just 200 pounds of dead weight riding shotgun to screw up your chassis balance
EDIT: to anyone wondering, I was the kid in the slate-colored Grassroots Motorsports work shirt walking around, during the first head holding a gold VMSC open-face helmet

In the interest of being a good sport:
I reportedly coned my final and fastest run, though the computer and sheet showed otherwise
. Two eye-witnesses confirmed the cone's horizontal orientation. I found out about it after my run. My FTD for once street-able vehicles shall hereby be blemished with this footnote.

Were you the one that I gave a ride to in the Orange Miata?

+1
We've been trying to get in some early-season seat time before the DC region clubs start up, and it's been a challenge finding places to run our karts. We are immensely grateful for the opportunity since we know it can take some additional work (re: insurance, safety, noise, grid space/run orders, etc) to allow karts, _particularly_ for the first time. As another club once said in reference to us "we've never had that problem before" (not meant maliciously, but we realize it's not a painless thing for the host). you guys were very considerate to us throughout the event, and we definitely appreciate it.
Had a great time on a very fun course and met lots of cool folks.
It'll be a busy season, but it looks like one or two dates don't conflict... I do think we'll try to make it back down to run again.
edit: posted a couple videos in the photo thread for this event

Dont drink sorry. also wish i could say that you can co-drive the DS winged MINI, but i have no idea at the moment when it will be on the road or raced again. after the event it shot a rod threw the block. Its going to take me quite a while to get replacement parts then have them installed.

I would like to Thank: Gunny and Justin for getting the the results out so quick.
If anyone would like to try their hand at designing a course, we are looking for OD's for most of the autocrosses from May thru November.
You can sign up with Lonnie or any of the board members. We would love to have new course designs to challange everyone.
It is a great experience for everyone to try. If it is your first time or you just need a couple of extra hands, I am sure that you can find some experienced people to help . I am always willing.
Get involved with the club we can use the help and the new set of eyes. Don't forget the club meetings every 3rd Thursday.
