Any interest in having a Dyno Day at Performance Autosport in Goochland on an upcoming Saturday? We would need 10 cars to get the rate dropped to $55 for 3 pulls. Here is the info from Kevin at Performance Autosport:

As rates go, from 1-9 cars would be $65 per car.  If you get 10 or more I'll drop it to $55 per car.  That is for 3 pulls back to back, no tuning or changes, print outs, all that good stuff.  If you want to give me a call ahead of time to let me know how many people we'd be happy to provide lunch as well as long as everyone likes pizza.

Info on Performance Autosport's dyno is at http://www.performanceautosport.com/dynojet.asp.
Directions to Performance AUtosport are at http://www.performanceautosport.com/contact.asp.

I would suggest Saturday, 2-28 at 10:00 (our first autocross is the next day at RIR) or Saturday, 3-14. We cannot get 3-7.

Please respond with whether you can come and your preferred date. I need a commitment by 2-18 to make this work.

David

PS Revised to eliminate 3-7 as an option and add 3-14.

This is something I've wanted to do for a while, but without the opportunity to make any changes or get printouts, it's not very valuable to me.

I think you do get printouts. (The "no" applies to changes.) In the past they have been ok with simple changes like dropping in a different air cleaner. Does that change your mind?

I don't think he meant no printouts, just no changes

p.s. he did let us make changes like air filters, etc, but no "tuning" between runs, so maybe he will do that again

Sorry if my first email was kinda confusing.  I even read it again and thought it was unclear.

I will allow everyone to do 3 pulls for the pricing stated above and if you want to make little changes like changing air filters, reflashing your ecu/swapping out chips with a different tune, changing AFM settings in your Miata, etc thats fine.  But during a typical dyno day I'm not looking for people to be changing out exhaust or making serious tuning changes over and over.  If everyone around agrees that they'll wait it out and the person on the dyno doesn't mind paying a little bit more for dyno time then by all means we'll go to town.  I'm there all day, so it doesn't make any difference to me, but I'd like everyone to have a good time and get equal dyno time for what they are paying.

And yes, everyone will get print outs of their runs.  I can also email the runs to you or if you want to bring a jump drive I can shoot them right to the jump drive and you'll have them instantly.

I look forward to seeing some VMSC'ers out here.  Like I said, we'd be happy to provide lunch if that is ok with everyone.  If anyone has any specific dyno related questions feel free to email me at Kevin@PerformanceAutosport.com.  Most cars will take 20mins or so, but there are some more complex cars that will take slightly longer.  Like a S54 powered BMW for instance, it takes 10mins just to get to the ignition leads!

Thanks.

btw, I better be dyno'ing a NSX that day.

Sadly it will only be the 2nd NSX that has ever graced my dyno.  And the first one was Comptech Supercharged, so it doesn't count.  I want to hear one in all its N/A glory!

If get enough people to do it, an NSX will be there! I saw the photos of the red NSX with the supercharger. It looked really nice. How much power was he putting down?

I'll commit to coming.  The 28th works fine for me, I think I am free any of the other weekends as well.  I do plan on datalogging each pull and re-flashing the ECU, but this only take a couple of minutes between pulls.

Kevin - Do you have a sniffer to put in the tailpipe and give AF ratio?

Good news is that dude with the S54 won't be bringing it to dyno day, but I will be there with a Z06 to see what it looks like

368rwhp, can't remember the torque number.  It was very impressive to drive, but it was much more pleasurable to drive when we returned it to N/A so he could sell it.

Sure do.  And the prices above include AFR recording as well on every pull.

Chike Dellimore (cannot do 3-14)

I've added myself to the list. Interested in the numbers my BS RX-8 makes. I can only do the dyno on 2-28. On 3-14 I'll be in GA attending the Dixie NT.

P.S. I'll post this on the BRR-SCCA forum. Might get a few more people from there.

John,

That dyno you posted was for what car? Would you say it is a low reading or high reading dynojet? Anyone know what a stock '05+ Mustang GT puts down on this dyno?

The dyno sheet that John posted was from his BMW M Coupe.

Thanks for posting on BRR.

We are halfway to the 10 we need. Anyone? Anyone?

Thanks David. FWIW, I could be there on 2/28 regardless of whether we reach 10 people or not. $65 for 3 dyno runs with afr's and a print out is still a good deal. Cool ($55 though is even better!)

Chike and I are up for for 2-28 even if it is $65 per car? Is this an option for others if we don't get 10 to get the price to $55? If so, I will go ahead and tell Kevin to reserve 2-28 for us.

Anyone know what a stock '05+ Mustang GT puts down on this dyno?

I happened to have a wee bit of experience with dyno'ing Mustangs.  A 2005-2006 should dyno bone stock at 255-260rwhp, a 2007-2009 will dyno bone stock at 275-285rwhp.  Even though they are rated the same, they most definitely are stronger in the later years.

If so, I will go ahead and tell Kevin to reserve 2-28 for us.

Consider it done and if anything changes just keep me posted.  We can start at 10am.

Perfect. Thanks for the info Kevin.  Those numbers seem right inline with what I've been reading for Mustangs.

Cool. I'll see you guys on 2-28 at 10am sharp!

Thanks to David for the email with the heads up about this.  I've got a Miata that needs some pulls to check out some "improvements" that I've made over the winter.  Good timing and I'll be there on the 28th (ten or not).  Want to see his the numbers on his stock NSX also.
