^ I had to do some research to make that joke so pretend like you understood it and laugh, lol.

Ya the problem is, if I remember correctly, Ms. MR2 has a PHd so in the first 1.43 nano seconds she could cite three sources which disproved your silly theory Wink

I had to have one of those Flex sections added my exhaust on the Subaru.  8" long by 3 1/2 diameter.  The exhaust was cracked up near the turbo due to the motor mounts which I had to have replaced last week.  One was bent and all 3 were worn with the rubber cracking.

Here is course map from the event.

Wow, you sure cut it close to the swamp there.
Or does the STi have a hover mode?

Everyone knows that as long as 1 wheel is touching a solid surface it will go where ever you point it. Wink

Here is my fastest run from Sunday.

I think this one is Marc's fastest run.  He only recorded 4 of the 5 so not sure if this is 4 or 5.
33  General / Open Forum / Re: My Car Fix! on: April 15, 2013, 07:21:52 AM
Well bad things happened to my car on the practice AutoX.
During the run in about a 2 second span of time my car went from haulin the mail to a big _ss paper weight! Smiley
The noise in the car sounded like a cone was stuck in the wheel well or something and everything just shut down (it was pretty weird)
Anyhow a long story sort. My car was stuck in second gear and the shifter would not move!

Justin and I disassembled the transmission from the car and we are hunting for a new one! We will also rebuild the one that is broke and eventually put it back in the car.

here are some pics

Well since you already committed to going to SSP you might look at taking advantage of this chance to build this or the new transmission to take advantage of whatever allowances there are in SSP for transmissions (if there are any.  I don't really know the rules for SP.  Heck, I only read the Stock rules from end to end for the first time this last summer.)

Sorry to see that happen to your car.  You missed a fun course on Sunday.

Great event.  Awesome course.  Really had a good time this weekend.  Thanks to the Board and Chiefs who made the event happen.  MEP is a great venue.

I will try and get some video posted later this week.  Having a 2 hour drive home dampens the motivation to look at the video the same night as the event.  Too bad I stuck my head into my rectum after my 3rd run and changed my front shock settings massively and totally hosed the setup of the car. Of course we had made several changes from the standard setup to get the car to where it was by my third run and didn't write them down.  So now I have to try and figure out what I had done. Sad

heres one of mine in the aerio. having fuel slosh issues with the much stickier toyos on the first dry race day. Any quick solutions to fix this? ran around half a tank of gas for this event.

Neal Davis had a similar issue on his Mini when he and I first met.  He had to run a full tank of fuel to avoid it.  His issue was that the fuel pump was rated to handle over 300hp and his car only puts out about 200.  I think it was causing a vortex in the fuel letting air in.

The fix was to fab a sort of baffle for the tank at the bottom of the pick-up.  We cut up a 5 gallon gas can and used the pieces and aluminum rivets to put together a basket that had high sides so the fuel would all be sloshed away from the pick-up in the turns but lower front and rear openings so it wouldn't starve when the fuel gets low.  In the mini, the fuel pick-up is spring loaded and pushed against the bottom of the tank.  We put the baffle at the bottom of the pick-up and pushed it in.

Ever since he has been able to get away with as little as 1/2 a gallon in the tank with no starvation.  He drains both sides of the tank after every event and put in 1 and 1/2 or 2 gallons in before each event depending on how many people will be driving it.
36  General / Classifieds / SOLD: GoPro Hero HD & Hero HD2 Cameras and various accessories for sale on: March 30, 2013, 10:10:07 AM

I bought a Race Keeper system for the car so I have 2 GoPro cameras for sale.  I would like to keep the cameras around in case I need them for something but in reality they will just sit around unused until they get sent to goodwill with a bunch of other junk I don't have room for.

Here is a list of what I have:
GoPro HD w/ Wifi Backpac/Remote Combo and mount - $125
GoPro HD 2 w/ Wifi Backpac/Remote Combo and Mount - $200

You can chose between a suction cup or rollbar mount.  I only have 1 rollbar mount so first come first serve on that choice.

I also have the following accessories available that I will package with one or both cameras or will sell separately once the cameras sell.

LCD Backpac - For viewing recorded video or aiming the cameras.
Battery Backpac - Provides extended camera life by adding a second battery.  Also can be used to charge batteries without the camera which is what I used it mostly for.

Extra Batteries

I am willing to sell the complete setup along with the camera case I store it in for $400.

I do NOT plan on including an SD Cards with the cameras as I use them for other things.

The event is limited to 45 participants so sign up early!

Registration opens 2/25 for members and 3/7 for non-members.

This event and all of TSCC's 2013 events can be accessed at
38  General / Classifieds / FS: Used Hoosier A6's on: January 25, 2013, 12:31:17 PM
I have 8 or 10 Hoosier A6's in my storage unit I need to get rid of.  As far as I can recall none of them have cords showing and should be good for a few events I think.

I have 295 17's and 315 18's from my Z06.

$100 takes them all.

Quick Bump.  Planning on stripping the Race parts off the car and returning it to stock for easier sale if no one is interested in it as a turn key autocrosser in the next couple of weeks.
42  General / Classifieds / Re: FS: 2002 Corvette Z06 Super Stock Monster on: June 18, 2012, 08:34:42 AM
Currently the car is not being parted out.  In the event I do part out the race parts I will let you know what is available.  The Harness will move to the Subaru though. Wink
43  General / Classifieds / FS: 2002 Corvette Z06 Super Stock Monster on: June 14, 2012, 08:05:00 AM
Well time to start posting the Vette for sale.  Hate to part with it but need the Benjamins for go fast goodies for the Subaru.

What we have here is a Super Stock 2002 Corvette Z06.  Fully prepped and developed.  Faster than a scalded cheetah and more nimble than an Olympic Ice Skater.

The car was dyno'ed this winter at All Aspects.  362hp/355lbs torque at the wheels.  68lbs oil pressure at 6,000 RPM.  Previously the car was dyno'ed 4 or 5 years ago in Richmond with 355hp/348lbs torque at the wheels.  The car weighs in at just over 3,100lbs race ready.

We purchased this car used in 2005.  It had 11,000 miles on the clock.  Since then we have put another ~40,000 mile on it bringing the ODO to just over 50k.  She was wounded only once.  When preparing to take it off a trailer in our driveway it rolled forward and cracked the windshield on the tire rack.  The roof was slightly damaged too.  It was repaired by the insurance by McGeorge Body Shop up in Richmond.  Their fiber glass guy is an ex-boat manufacturer who took a full 3 months to properly repair and cure before moving on to the next steps.  Does not leak and no visible sign of the repair.  We have even had a body shop guy or two try and find the damaged area and they couldn't.

ALL of the fluids have been changed at the beginning of the year for the past 5 years or so (It was daily driven before that so the fluids had been changed on scheduled.)  Only the best fluids have been used.  Mobil 1 for the engine, transmission and diff up until this year.  We switched to Royal Purple for the Diff and Engine this year on the recommendation of Sam Strano @ Strano Performance Parts.  All of the other maintenance has been handled religiously.

This year we replaced a number of items 'just in case':
  • Both front hubs replaced - December 2011
  • Both Electric Fans & the Shroud - January 2012 (It was cheaper to replace the fans & shroud together than to just replace the fans)
  • Upper Idler & Tensioner - August 2011
  • Lower Idler & Tensioner - January 2012
  • Water Pump & 160 degree thermostat - March 2012 (there was a small leak around the pump and the car was running hotter than I like during autocrosses)
  • Brake Rotors - Winter 2010 (Replaced with Stock Rotors)
  • Brake Pads - Winter 2010 (Replaced with Hawk HP+ pads)
  • Left Rear Hub - Replaced twice in 2007 or 2008
  • Radio - April 2012
  • Spark Plugs & Wire - January 2012
Now for the good stuff.  Here are 'Race' parts on the car:
  • SSR Rims - Stock sizes and offset.  Weigh 1 pound less each than the stock wheels
  • Stock Z06 Rims - Came with the car
  • Koni Yellow Shocks - New December 2011
  • Pfadt Spherical Bushings on upper shock mounts
  • ADCO Swaybar - Installed 2006 or 2007.  New Heim Joint endlinks installed Winter 2011
  • Hardbar Carbon Fiber Harness Bar w/ Camera Mount
  • Teamtech 6 point harness with custom quick release anchors for ease of removal for street driving.
  • Borla X-Pipe - Installed Winter 2011
  • Borla Axle Back Exhaust - Installed December 2012
  • Hawk HP+ Brake Pads - As mentioned in the maintenance section
  • There are 2 or 3 sets of Hoosier A6's that come mounted and loose.  They are all used to one extent or another but should be adequate for at least the rest of this season.
Car comes with a set of Black center, chrome lipped rims with BFGoodrich KDW2's mounted.

  • Factory axle back exhaust - Super light Titanium unit (weighs 5lbs less than the current Borla setup)
  • 4 or 5 year old Koni Red Shocks
  • Extra front spring
  • Factory front swaybar
  • Several Quarts of Royal Purple Oil
  • Factory Shocks
  • Factory Radio
Probably more that I have forgotten

The car has a bit of an oil leak.  It has been investigated by several shops with no definitive source identified.  Not currently bad enough to warrant invasive search and repair.

There is the expected amount of wear and tear associated with autocross but nothing major or catastrophic.

47  Events / Autocross / 2010 Virginia Autocross Championship - REGISTRATION OPEN!!! on: July 20, 2010, 07:48:17 AM
Hey gang,
I really miss everyone up there in Richmond and hope to make a couple more events this year.  But I wanted to drop a note to remind you guys about the 2010 Virginia Autocross Championship.  It is once again being hosted by the Tidewater Sports Car Club ( in Virginia Beach!.

The event, like all TSCC events, is held at the Littlecreek Amphibious base on the concrete where the hovercraft come out of the water.  It's on Chesapeak Bay and there will most likely be sail boats going by and maybe some dolphins playing in the surf.

The peeps organizing the event have been hard at work since February lining up sponsors and swag to hand out.

Everyone should come out!

More info is here:
48  General / Open Forum / Long time no see and a call for help. on: April 19, 2010, 05:43:28 AM
Hey gang,
Long time no see for most of you.  It has been a bummer not being able to run with you guys much in the last year.  Neal and I had a great time at the recent event.  I love the grip out there at RIR.  Too bad we can't use that new patch they put out there.

Anyway, as you know due to jobs and such I am living in Suffolk and Donna is living in Connecticut.  We finally sold our house after 6 months on the market.  This coming weekend (4/24 & 25) we are going to be scrambling to get everything out of the house for the closing on the 30th.

Anyone who is bored or has nothing better to do is welcome to come out Saturday and/or Sunday to lend a hand if you like.  The house is out in Varina off Route 5.  Donna and I will be getting pizza for lunch both days for anyone who comes out and actually helps (no supervisors needed  Grin) and we will probably pick of some two liter bottles of soda and ice.  (I thought about offering beer but I am not going to get a bunch of people dehydrated, fill them with beer and let them head out)

So if you are willing/interested let me know and I will send you the address and schedule once firmed up.
