...I did an autocross with the BMW club at Mineral wells that was 85-90 seconds. No kinks either. It was also a fast course.

Wow I didn't realize Mineral Wells was that big.  I guess I have only run a ProSolo there that isn't a fair way to judge.

Due to a misconfiguration in the data logger I haven't gotten all of Chris and my runs pulled out (the logger recorded constantly from his first run for 20 minutes and then again for another 50) so here are the ones I have extracted and posted:

There were 2 bumps in the course that made things interesting if you didn't prepare for them.  I loved the courses.  I heard they have had 90 second courses there.
4  General / Technical Help / Re: Traction control CHAOS !!! on: May 12, 2014, 11:18:32 AM
The car did great. The guest driver wasn't used to getting to the cones so fast, even after running the Boss 302 in ESP.  SPEED KILLS!  Well, speed kills cones.

There were a couple of times when the brakes didn't seem to want to whoa me down as quickly as they should have but that could have been tires getting over heated.

Thanks again for letting me drive the Red Devil.  Can't wait to get my car and move into SSP.
5  General / Technical Help / Re: 2.5 Boxster with exhaust class question on: April 29, 2014, 01:35:32 PM
Are you saying custom or aftermarket muffler?  Depends on where the exhaust is modified.  If it is after the CAT and that is the only change (no tuning, removed parts, etc) then it will fit in Street.  If it replaced/deleted the CAT or even moved the CAT then it goes to BSP as they don't have an ST class as far as I can tell.
6  General / Technical Help / Re: Traction control CHAOS !!! on: April 29, 2014, 01:33:07 PM
Do you have an Optima Red Top or similar battery in there?  We had odd warning codes when we had regular batteries in ours.  The harsh vibrations from autocross would break connections between the cells in a regular battery and it would start the car but the voltage variations would make the car lose its mind.
Our vette killed an Optima about every 2 years but they have (or had) a 3 year warranty so we would get a new one for free each time.  But the optima never caused the gremlins like the regular battery.  The Optima just lost the ability to start the car and wouldn't hold a charge.

We also got weird stability and traction codes and errors when one of the wheel sensor cables got knocked loose.  Check the wires from the sensor all the way back to the body.  Our left front wire wore through and grounded on the a-arm.  That killed our ABS module.

When our ABS module went is was just gone.  Nothing, nada.  Bill Lloyd knows what driving a vette without ABS is like as we had invited him to drive the car at VMP just after the module failed.

Battery
Wires
then try swapping the sensors as previously suggested.

We are aiming at having 2 sessions each day.  4-6 runs per session.

Registration is open to everyone at tscc.motorsportsreg.com

There is onsite lodging available at a reasonable price as well as food at the mess hall.

No no no. They haven't started shuffling around the SP classes. Just screwing with the stock herd at this time.
9  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Welcome to the Carpocalypse on: May 17, 2013, 04:53:42 PM
Put street tires on all of those torque monsters and its easy to see them having trouble keeping up with less powerful vehicles. Though why they pulled the ZR1 off the stock exclusion list is beyond me.

I'm still not in the results. it's not a huge deal because i'm not going for points, but it would be nice to see where i ended up with a certainty.

Your in the results as number 65, I don't really know what happened with your entry.
anyhow looks like you did pretty good. I also moved Lonnie out of AM and put him in CS, I put keath is ssp too.
use the links like I posted earlier to access

gunny

Not to be a whiney ninny but can my 2-5 runs be DNF'ed and leave me in STU?  This will keep all of my points in STU for the season.  Thanks

I did gunny .. but since we were short handed I had to be placed somewhere so I was told.

My apologies on that.  I thought you had said you couldn't run so we put you someplace that shouldn't have needed to run.  I didn't realize standing was an issue.  I am truely sorry if you were hurt by the placement.
14  Results / Autocross / Re: 05-12-2013 results on: May 14, 2013, 07:55:14 AM
I suppose you should DNF my vette runs so the points for the event end up in ST.

Thanks

We would love to see any of you guys down in Pungo sunday!

Here are my photos. I did the first heat and Gunny and Donna covered the second heat. I am having an issue with Flickr getting them all uploaded. There should be about 498 when they all make it into the ether.

Keath, you might check your motor mounts.  If they are broken that would let the engine/bracket/other part move forward and hit the radiator.

Thanks Gene.  We will have to look at them.  We had the engine and trans mount replaced with some pretty much solid units.  I suppose I could have broken one and not know.

amazing course and great day..  I know i was leaving at least a second out there..  arrrrgh..  Can't wait till June!

No reason to wait.  TSCC is running in Pungo this sunday (tscc.motorsportreg.com).
ODR runs the first sunday of every month in Pungo as well.
20  Results / Autocross / Re: 05-12-2013 results on: May 13, 2013, 06:42:55 AM
Great event.  Though I think I need to send an independent auditor in to check your cones for embedded spikes.  Raggy will fight another day.  As soon as I get a new radiator on order.

Danielle and Justin must be confused.  Its probably the only car that has broken at a VMSC in the last couple of years that didn't end up at their house! Wink

Thanks to Gunny for letting me flog his vette even though the last time he did that it broke.  As usual our autocross community shows itself to be awesome.  I had several people willing to toss me the keys to their cars.  I would have loved to have driven any of them.  I am beginning to wonder if Gunny booby trapped me or something.  He had asked me that morning if I would be willing to drive his car and give him some feedback on the setup.

21  Events / Other Events / Re: First Settlers' PCA Driver Education event at VIR on: May 13, 2013, 06:36:17 AM

Instructor assignments have been posted, same DE Documents page.

They'll be announced at the drivers' meeting Friday morning, so it's optional
whether you print or even look at the list before you go.  I don't recognize the
names of any of our instructors (mine included) so I can't offer any insights.

Guess you would just have to do you instruction time in the RV.  He should fit in that.
My biggest concern is how big the guy is... it would be just my luck to end up with a 6 foot, 250 lb instructor that doesn't fit in my tiny car! It's not like I have a voluminous 911 that can carry me and a weekend load of gear!!!
22  General / Open Forum / Re: What makes a car fun? on: May 09, 2013, 07:41:15 AM
I think I disagree a little bit...  I love the feeling that a car will do exactly what I ask it to, and do it well.
That the only thing holding it back is the fact that I haven't asked more.

I think that might be the key to you getting Beth.  If the car does what you ask of it everytime you will never find the limit.  Some people believe in tip toeing to the edge of the envelope.  I prefer to run head long with my eyes shut and see where I end up Wink

Holy cow you people need to start travelling out of town to get more autocrossing in.  It might reduce this mass insanity that seems to be setting in between events Wink

25  General / Classifieds / FS: 4 Dunlop Direzza Z1 245/45 18 on: May 02, 2013, 06:59:41 AM
I have a set of Z1's from last year that still have a good amount of life left in them. We have already started running the BFG Rival and Z2 from this year so I am selling these so someone can get some use out of them. Included in the photos are a couple of pics of a depth gauge showing tread depth. Not sure how to read it properly so I will let you interpret it.

I think 1 had a screw in it when I took it off the rim but it is in the tread so it is repairable without worrying about safety.

Asking $200 or best offer for the set of 4.
