Tony, don't let classing get in the way of competition. If you and Ben want to compete against each other, do it. In your case, classing would be about club points. You need to be classed properly for that purpose.

yeah, we definitely run within a half second of each other, lol. I know Ben's still getting used to his new ride, so I'd better bring my A-game every event! I was looking through the rule book, and I didn't see any restrictions on gear ratios for KM, so I look forward to playing around with that Smiley

I've been wondering if Ben and I should be in the same class? I know I'm in a kart (KM) and he's in a formula (FM), but we both run 2 cycle engines and are the only open-wheelers in the club at this point as well.

I guess regardless of the class, we would still be pretty competitive as far as raw times are concerned...not to mention there are some cars out there definitely capable of giving us all we can handle and more, lol

Thanks, Gunny, I'll have to consider that Smiley

In my brief time autoXing, the last event was the first time I had encountered such a high speed final approach. This was something that was immediately noticed by several drivers during the walk through.

I'm sure anyone who has watched my video has noticed how I was able to hit the finish at full throttle and get a little out of shape getting the kart slowed down.

In this situation, it was nice to have what looked like a decent run-off area past the finishing cones. I'm wondering if it is possible to incorporate this into all track layouts, particularly where there is an opportunity to build up that kind of momentum so near to the end of the course? Just my 2 cents Smiley

My thoughts and prayers are with this family in this difficult time.

Other than Geforce and an electric kart facility on the Southside of Richmond, there's not much in the way of karting for us here in the area other than dirt oval racing. There's a dirt track in Ashland (Capital City Speedway) and a dirt track in Amelia Co.

Here's a clip from the HRKC Facebook page:

For over 40 years, HRKC has been bringing racing to young and old alike on Sunday mornings at Langley Speedway, located in Hampton, Virginia. With many former members becoming present-day notable drivers—including Tyler Lester (currently racing Bandeleros), Brandon Gdovic (K&N Pro East), and Mike Skeen (World Challenge)—HRKC is a nursery for up-and-coming drivers to learn the basics as they work towards their dreams. For others, HRKC is a hobby, allowing go-karters a chance in the driver’s seat from March thru November.

You now have me thinking about purchasing a Kart!!!!!! here I come!!!!  Will have to pick your brain a little more at next month's VMSC event about karts...............

Cool! having more open wheelers would be fun! Are you planning on making it to the monthly meeting? Trying some karts at Geforce Karts would be fun.
133  General / Open Forum / Re: PAX Time FAQ's on: July 14, 2014, 08:54:06 PM
Yes that's exactly what it is.

That's why picking the correct class can make a big difference in your (PAX) results.
Your time is multiplied by the PAX constant for your class to get your PAX time.

I'm sure I'm in the correct class...didn't see anything else other than Junior Briggs (I'm way too old for that, lol) Smiley

Yes like an equalizer. The person that works on it every year is a volunteer and always under pressure to be fair. Here is a link to national level results where the pax numbers are developed from.

Thanks for the link!

I very new to autoXing, so I'm still a little in the dark on understanding how the PAX scoring system works. I'm thinking it's some kind of handicap for slower cars to be competitive, but I'm not sure.

Here's what I'm into when I'm not autoXing; video from the Hampton Roads Kart Club.

I think I had a little too much adrenalin in my bloodstream when I passed the driver in red...I lost it a couple laps later and he zoomed right on by, lol.

Thanks for bringing the cart out.  That gopro video looks just as violent as it does watching that thing.  How's your back?

lol, everyone seems to think I'm shaking my teeth out on the course, but I don't feel a thing, lol. I guess I'm so used to it, my mind is totally focused on navigating the course at the maximum.

...quick before this gets any more traffic...  Smiley

is it okay if we copy/move this discussion to the "Pictures and Media from Events" forum?

This forum is where people will be looking for results.

yes, of course...I just don't know how to move it, but I'll see what I can do.

Well, I made it through the weekend...between the heat and mechanical problems, I wasn't so sure I would, lol. Here's a couple videos of my best runs. Thanks again to VMSC for hosting these events, looking forward to the next one!

If I ever ran anything other than a kart, I would think it would be something in this category, lol

This was the best run I achieved on Sunday

It would've been a top 5 raw time for sure...but you have to not miss any cones, lol I'm disappointed I didn't have one clean run, I guess I didn't study the back section of the course well enough . I heard this course was rated a high degree of difficulty, it was very challenging/fun to drive!

when you get the video uploaded, will it be here or on YouTube? Also, do you already have photos uploaded somewhere? thx
