Saweeet! Definitely go at least a little more aggressive. You can get your camber and ride height set to where you are comfortable and then tune the handling (and prevent tire wear) by running more front toe out while autocrossing and turning it back for street driving. Toe is quick to change.

Nice pic! I would recommend Dyke Tire near Broad and Parham. A little farther, but the price is good and they seem like they know what they are doing. I had them dismount my old R-comps and install the new ones and I think it was under $20 per wheel. I'm pretty sure David Ogburn has had good experiences there and they used to sponsor the Marxs IIRC. I don't drive on the R-comps on the street for fear they may get too many heat cycles, but I'm no tire expert. I know Roger drives on his all over the place though and they seem to be doing fine.

On the C5 Z06, we would run a small bit of toe out up front and toe in out back (1/16" or 1/8" total) to get the car to rotate. It was also important to keep some rake with the rear end a little higher than the front. If the car doesn't rotate, try lowering the front or raising the rear. I'd also run a bunch of camber up front, maybe -2 degrees. We used to eat front tires twice as quickly as rears, we would cord the outside edge. -2 degrees of camber and 1/16" toe out shouldn't be too hard on street tires, though they definitely won't last as long as factory settings. I don't remember tire pressures, I want to say we ran low-mid 30s up front and high 20s in the rear, but we were also running 295s and 315s so YMMV. We used to align the car with someone in the driver's seat. I've got a tire pyrometer that I bring to most events. I can take the tire temps when you are hot off a run at some point to see how the camber and tire pressure settings are working for you.
Oh, and you may need to start bringing a sprayer of ice water to the hot events.

I had Maaco (in Massachusetts) spray the driver's side fender and front door of my Crown Vic after I hit a tree. I did all the prep work and the paint came out fine. I hear the quality is hit or miss and you definitely need to prep the car yourself.

General / Classifieds / Parting out 1994 Camaro Z28

1994 Camaro Z28, black, 134k, 6 speed, fixed roof (no T-tops). Located in Midlothian. The best way to contact me is to email me: justin <dot> loehlein <at> gmail <dot> com.
The body is okay. The paint isn't so great and the driver's side front fender is cracked, but other than that it is all good. The interior is complete, but the driver's side front seat is ripped. AC didn't work so I'm not sure what kind of shape the compressor is in. Power steering and alternator seemed to do fine. It's got salad shooter wheels and some 235/55/16 tires with ~8/32" of tread left. Everything except the engine, transmission, pedals and cluster is up for grabs.
I'll practically give parts away unless I have to take them off for you. If I have to do the labor it'll probably still be pretty cheap. Take the whole car for $300obo or come remove parts before I send it to the crusher!

Justin et al,
I really enjoyed running with you guys this past weekend. Hopefully I can make it down again this year - maybe Dinwiddie in August.
Gary
Glad you enjoyed yourself. I love the Stalker. Dinwiddie should be even more fun, the parking lot is about 2-3x the size of RIR.

Whoops, it looks like a few peoples' last runs didn't show up in the report. They were recorded in the computer though. I just re-ran the report and everything looks fine now.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the events this weekend. I thought the test and tune went pretty well. As for Saturday's results, between battling with a car with a broken fuel pump (not mine) and one with a blown transmission (mine, not the Honda) after the test and tune, I'm not going to get around to auditing the results until Monday. I'll try my best to get them posted Monday night. If anyone knows of a cheap LT1 and T56 transmission, let me know

I have taken my car to Wallace on Southside to get inspected. They seem pretty good, certainly better than the dealer. I have recommended them to a couple of friends and they have had good experiences.
I heard from a few people (including Bill, I think) that Hanover Honda Sports is also very good.

What are the rules for tech inspection for the test and tune? Reason I'm asking is my windshield has quite the significant split from a recent incident involving a rock. It's not in my field of view and I want to get it fixed before I register (to keep from hogging a spot in the unlikely event i can't get it fixed.) Actually, is there anywhere I can DL the tech inspection rules just for future reference?
Hmm, I don't think we have any official tech rules posted anywhere. Your car just needs to be safe, which is not the same as being road-legal. The major things we will look for are: 1) the battery is tied down 2) your suspension is not going to fall apart (no excessive play) 3) your tires are not showing cord 4) you have all of your lug nuts on 5) your throttle return spring works 6) your seatbelt works There may be a few other things, but I don't remember off the top of my head. Generally, unless your car is a total heap, it will pass tech. The most common reason for failure is the battery not being tied down. We won't fail you for a crack in your windshield.

Good catch. I have updated the results. No one moved places and Dustin's PAX time didn't change much. I didn't realize that the PAX for GS is actually a tiny bit harder than the PAX for DS!?! Gotta love it.

It'll open up two weeks before the event, on the 28th.
Edit - I went ahead and opened up registration for the July 11th autocross as well, since we are posting it along with the test and tune.
