The lift?  Or Sabine?   Cheesy

I've got most of the large pieces assembled now.  Facebook album has been updated with more photos.

I'm hoping to hold the anchor-drilling and install party this weekend...  Smiley

What?  The nsx melts in a little rain?  Wink
804  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Dannmar Max Jax lift installation on: August 10, 2011, 04:15:33 PM
A core drill!  Thought they were just for big holes though?  The anchors only need 7/8" diam.

I'm hoping to get the pieces assembled this week, and be ready to install the anchors by the weekend.
That's the plan, at least...  Smiley

BTW I adjusted the privacy settings on the FB album.  If you weren't able to access it before, you should be able to now.

Actually, from the latest on the FB group page it sounds like it will be held this coming Saturday, Aug 13.  Exact time has not yet been announced but it will be early, like 8 or 9am.

I plan to be there, though I'm not sure what I'll be driving....

Just started a couple of weeks ago; seems to be mostly word of mouth so far.  Forums like 6speedonline, corvetteforum, etc.  You can just google "cars and coffee richmond", or go to their Facebook group.  I think they are putting together an email list also.

It's held early Saturday mornings at the Starbucks at 5001 Huguenot Road ; that's the one just off the north end of the Huguenot bridge, right next to the Eye Institute.   They had one on the 23rd and again this past Saturday (I heard about it from someone who was there), but I'm not sure about this coming Saturday.

Lots of eye candy there, for sure!  Thanks for the pics.

I just heard yesterday there's a Cars n Coffee in Richmond too, at the Starbucks on River Rd just north of the Huguenot bridge (by the Eye Institute).  Will definitely have to check that out.....

Engine replacement.  Sad    But the good news is, all should be well for plenty of miles after that.

Don't know if I'll have her broken in by the 20th though - may have to scope out a temporary replacement.

Just bought a Dannmar "Max Jax" lift.  I thought this might be of general interest, since it's designed for small garages where you may not have a high ceiling and/or you don't want something permanently installed.

You can read the mfr's site for the specifics, but here are the highlights:
  • Two post hydraulic lift with adjustable arms
  • Posts bolt to concrete floor when in use; unbolt and roll away when done
  • Max load 6000 lbs
  • Max rise 45" (which is why it works with low ceilings)
  • Requires minimum 3000 psi, 4" thick concrete slab

I've started a Facebook photo album with pics of the installation process, hope to keep it updated as I go along.

Today was just the unboxing; plan to assemble the hydraulic system later this weekend.  I think that just leaves drilling some holes and installing the bolt anchors.... how hard could that be?  Wink

Remind me next time I'm selling a car to get you to advertise it.  Cheesy

I think a number of us will be lining up for the privilege!
813  Events / Autocross / Re: Evolution Performance Driving Schools at Meadow Event Park on: July 29, 2011, 03:13:13 PM
Now that's tempting.   Grin

However it turns out that rental cars for the weekend are strangely hard to find at 5pm on a Friday afternoon.

Plus, I'm feeling pretty depressed about my car, not sure I have heart to go cheating on her while she's in the shop....  Instead I think I'll sit home reading Ross Bentley and "visualizing" all the stuff I wish I were doing for real this weekend.

They won't know until they pull the trans & clutch, but it could range from replacing the bearing to replacing the whole motor.  In any case, I definitely won't have a car this weekend so I'm out.  Sad

One small consolation is that I won't have to bake in the 100 degree heat forecast for Saturday.
Y'all stay cool!

Could be depressing, actually, if I don't have a car to put on it....    Word from the shop is that the drip is coming from the bell housing/engine seam.  Will know more in the morning when I can drive to where there's a cell phone signal.

I don't suppose the school offers loaner cars as well as helmets?   Tongue

That sounds very cool, definitely have to look into it.  Thanks for passing it on!
817  Events / Autocross / Re: Evolution Performance Driving Schools at Meadow Event Park on: July 26, 2011, 05:56:49 PM
I would... if I weren't four hours away on family vacation.

(And the new lift won't get here until next week or so anyway.)
818  Events / Autocross / Re: Evolution Performance Driving Schools at Meadow Event Park on: July 25, 2011, 06:07:18 AM
No need for galoshes here.  Just frustrated that I can't get a closer look.

Little drip 1

Little drip 2

(I don't think there are two drip sources; just two different parking positions.)
819  Events / Autocross / Re: Evolution Performance Driving Schools at Meadow Event Park on: July 24, 2011, 05:09:00 PM
Uh oh... just as I was pulling out of the garage to go on vacation for the week, I noticed a small dribble of oil under the back of the Porsche.  Definitely a new thing in the past day or two.

She may simply have been pouting at being left behind, but I need to figure out how to investigate this before the class this weekend.   Sad

Those are great!  Some really cool cars.  What's the story behind the pickup?  Smiley

Just curious - what format are y'all uploading to YouTube in?  I can put together a video that looks decent on my PC but once it's on YouTube it looks awful.  I've tried WMV and MP4 so far.

Any hope there might someday be a T5.6?

I've concluded the name for this corner is

Another awesome package of pics!  Thanks so much.  I think I may make a screensaver out of these.  Smiley

That was a fun course.  Would have liked a few more cracks at it.  Smiley
Thanks for all the hard work that went into it.
