76  Results / Autocross / Re: Results 20 April 2015 on: April 19, 2015, 05:18:46 PM

I figured out how to have the car model next to the in class results. I need someone to add me as an admin on MAE.

I was able to add you as someone who can "edit events", see if that's sufficient.
If "admin" is something different then I'm not sure how to do that.

BTW date at the top of results is wrong, it shows Monday not today.

Here's a great pic...   Smiley

(Ben I can send you the 4MB original if you like, had to shrink it for the forum.)

Video looked great! I see your a talker like me! Funny
Still using a Contour? if so what model.

Gunny

I did have a passenger, although I confess sometimes I talk when I am alone too.   Wink

Still using my Contour ROAM camera.  Love how simple it is to use.

Beth - the video quality looked good and consistent when I just watched it. Must have been a youtube thing when you were watching.

OK that's just weird.  If I go to the video from the shortcut I left on my desktop, the video is
really poor quality.  If I go from the link I posted here, it looks fine.  But they are the same URL!

Computers.   Tongue

My last three laps were all within a few hundredths - this one looked the smoothest.

I'm not sure why the track map is clipped, will have to look into that.
(Anyone else out there use DashWare for overlays?)

EDIT: Also not sure why the video quality goes downhill partway through - doesn't
look like that in the original!  Sad   Could YouTube have done something to it?
83  Results / Autocross / Re: Results 29 March 2015 on: March 30, 2015, 04:16:41 PM
It is not a bug. Novice is a paxed class since cars of any class can run in Novice. All other classes are based on raw times since only cars of the same class are grouped together.

David

If it's not a bug, then it is still a confusing way to display the results IMHO.
The rest of entries in that table are raw times, so you'd expect all of them to be raw.
I would expect to see PAX times only in the PAX table.

Not that we have much control over those tables, as I recall.
I think they are output by the timing software that way.

For your clicking convenience, results are now also accessible from the
Season Schedule on our home page.

I think Marc is just making excuses why he was too chicken to come out and
race a poor lowly base Carrera yesterday.
86  Results / Autocross / Re: Results 29 March 2015 on: March 30, 2015, 09:02:05 AM

The short answer is, your raw times are actual seconds for each run.

The final number is your PAX time, which is your fastest raw time multiplied by a
scaling factor based on your class.  This allows (in theory) Corvettes and Civics to
have their results compared in the same table.  The +0.303 is the time difference
between you and the next faster competitor, and/or the first place competitor.

That said, I don't understand why your PAX time is listed with your raw times in the
first table.  A quick glance at other entries shows most folks have their best raw time
in the last column, but all the Novice entries seem to have their PAX time there instead.
That might be a bug.

That parking lot is the only place I have ever actually been frightened
during an autocross ridealong.  Tongue

Looks like a long and interesting course!  Well marked, too.
88  General / Open Forum / Re: What you can do with an old Ignition Coil on: March 14, 2015, 05:45:21 PM

I can't make up my mind whether that is hilarious or seriously frightening.
Perhaps it depends on who is watching.

90  Results / Autocross / Re: 2015 Schedule on: March 11, 2015, 06:44:07 PM

There's an issue with MyAutoEvents, sorry.

It's supposed to be fixed tomorrow, at which point our vigilant staff will
re-enter the classes where they're supposed to be.

Once that happens, you can edit your entry and set the class as desired.

Thanks for your patience.   Smiley

p.s. worst case, you can fix it at registration on the day of.  no biggie.

I know someone in the club has them.  If there are enough interested people
maybe we should put together a corner weighting party.

How much does it usually cost and how welcome are 1st timers?

If you're asking about PCA, I've gone to VIR with First Settlers, Potomac, and Zone 2 PCA groups.
In general, figure about $400 for a three-day event, less if it's only 2 days.

New folks are extremely welcome.  You'll be assigned an instructor who will ride with you and
help you get used to the track.  If you are already experienced, your instructor may sign you off
to go solo, but normally it takes more than one event to do that.  One of the reasons PCA (and
similar) events are so safe is that no one is allowed to go solo until the organization is confident
that they won't be a danger to themselves or others.
