26  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: March 05, 2016, 07:15:04 PM

Just curious, of those who brought thumb drives today, what kind of file(s)
did you get?  Mine is just a jpg of the graph I also got on paper.

Last time I brought a thumb drive I actually got drf files, i.e. dyno data.
I had to download a (free) viewer to plot a graph from them, but it was
nice to know I had the actual data and not just a picture.
27  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: Older tires and classing STS vs CSP on: March 02, 2016, 06:48:37 AM

Yes the rule is strict in pure SCCA events.  In VMSC we choose to follow SCCA rules
but are able to adjust things as needed in the spirit of fun and reasonable competition
among our members.

NB:  I am *not* a member of the competition committee and have no say in how your
car is classed.  But if asked, I would vote for considering the known capability of the tire
over the printing on the sidewall.

I am also disappointed to miss seeing the Audi.
Hopefully you'll have another opportunity to bring it out sometime.

Beth McKenney
1998 BMW M3

Stock is 240 at the crank, so I'll be happy with anything over 210 whp.

We haven't yet talked about this year's, maybe they will at this week's board meeting.
It's normally held on a Saturday morning in February.  (But not the same Saturday as
the banquet.)

33  General / Technical Help / Re: Does anyone have a bore camera I can borrow? on: December 14, 2015, 07:59:24 AM
I have a cheap one from harbor freight.  I'll check to make sure it's less than 1/2".
If so I'll get it to Jeff C. and you can get it from him.

35  General / Open Forum / Re: media blasting in central va. on: October 23, 2015, 06:41:54 AM

Depending on the size of your parts, and what media you want to blast with,
Engelbert might be able to help you.
36  Results / Autocross / Re: results from oct 11 2015 on: October 12, 2015, 09:37:26 AM

I updated the home page season schedule with a link to the results for Sunday.
Have the practice day results been posted anywhere?
37  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: Tech Inspectors for this weekend on: September 25, 2015, 02:59:00 PM

The practice day (Saturday) is now officially cancelled.
It will probably be rescheduled for the day before our October date, stay tuned for that.

In any case, Sunday's competition event is still on, rain or shine!
38  Results / Autocross / Re: 2/3 Season Points on: September 25, 2015, 02:57:54 PM

Really?
I would have be overall champ 2 or 3 years running if I got points for doing that a few years back, that seems to be unfair since only a couple of people can do that. I'll have to bring that up in a meeting some day.

Gunny

I think the (facetious of course!) point is.... if you are the one tallying points, who would know??   lol
39  Results / Autocross / Re: 2/3 Season Points on: September 23, 2015, 02:00:34 PM

And pay your club dues!    Smiley

(Only members are eligible for end of year trophies.)
40  General / Classifieds / Re: 1979 Fiat x1/9 race car on: September 16, 2015, 06:55:17 PM

I love the idea of getting this car.  But I'm just not ready to take on a project right now.
Good luck, it sounds like a great car!
41  General / Open Forum / Re: Interested in eventually getting into HPDE on: July 17, 2015, 05:36:03 AM

Almost all of the HPDE events I have attended have been PCA.  (I have done NASA
autocross but no track events.)  PCA does an excellent job making their events safe
and fun.  In fact six of us just had a great time this past weekend.   Grin

Here are a couple of threads with more info, to give you first-hand impressions.

These events really do fill up fast, so if you think you might be interested then don't delay.

44  General / Classifieds / Re: FS: Hankook Ventus R-S3 245/40R17 (used) on: June 27, 2015, 08:33:44 AM

As long as I don't have to take them back home I'll be content.   Tongue
45  General / Classifieds / Re: FS: Hankook Ventus R-S3 245/40R17 (used) on: June 25, 2015, 03:19:48 PM
I need these for the GRM Fox body testing until I am able to invest in some new tires.  Are you able to bring them to the non-points event this Sunday?  I will have cash in-hand for the transaction.

I should be able to do that (now that I'm autoxing a grocery getter  Smiley  ).
Sounds good, see you then.

46  General / Classifieds / FS: Hankook Ventus R-S3 245/40R17 (used) on: June 25, 2015, 06:43:34 AM

I am selling the track tires that came with my M3.  Hankook Ventus R-S3, 245/40R17.
The previous owner tracked them, and they have about 3/16" tread left.

I found a nail in one tire, and had it professionally repaired.  They should still be fine for
daily driving and autocross, but not recommended for track duty at this point.

If you're curious about this tire and would like to try it before sinking real money into
a new set, this is your chance.  Smiley

$120 for all four.  PM me if you are interested.

Our webmaster is useless.  What can I say.

Fixed now.  Thanks for mentioning it, and sorry for the confusion.

I used an app on my phone during the walkthrough to map the course.
Here's what it looked like from above.

I wondered about that.   Smiley

But she still beat me - and a lot of the rest of us - fair and square.  I hope she's proud of that!
