101  General / Technical Help / Re: Car scales and corner weight? on: January 21, 2015, 07:27:52 PM

I know someone in the club has them.  If there are enough interested people
maybe we should put together a corner weighting party.
102  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Dominion Raceway on: January 16, 2015, 07:11:58 PM
How much does it usually cost and how welcome are 1st timers?

If you're asking about PCA, I've gone to VIR with First Settlers, Potomac, and Zone 2 PCA groups.
In general, figure about $400 for a three-day event, less if it's only 2 days.

New folks are extremely welcome.  You'll be assigned an instructor who will ride with you and
help you get used to the track.  If you are already experienced, your instructor may sign you off
to go solo, but normally it takes more than one event to do that.  One of the reasons PCA (and
similar) events are so safe is that no one is allowed to go solo until the organization is confident
that they won't be a danger to themselves or others.

103  Results / Autocross / Re: 2015 Schedule on: January 06, 2015, 05:33:34 PM

Traditionally it is announced at the banquet, which this year will be Feb 21.

It's possible that the opening date could be released before then, if it is known.
Some venues are a bit uncertain until closer to the beginning of the season.
104  General / Open Forum / Re: Tires for the 2015 season on: January 05, 2015, 04:17:45 PM
Did something happen to the 996???

After losing to you, she sank into a depression and never recovered.
Sold her as a project car to someone who hopes to bring her back as a DD.

At the moment it looks like you will have to contend with the Pearl once again.
You have been warned!  Grin
105  General / Open Forum / Re: Tires for the 2015 season on: January 04, 2015, 09:00:21 PM

The Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my 997 are still fairly new,
so I guess I'm stuck with those for the season.

I was thinking about going back to RE-11s for the 996 - which did
need new tires - but of course that is a moot point now.
106  Results / Autocross / Re: Season results to date? on: December 22, 2014, 07:29:26 AM
The banquet is in Feb. 2015. It should be posted soon for registration.

I added it to the calendar.  I'll update the signup link when registration opens.
107  Results / Autocross / Re: Season results to date? on: December 21, 2014, 09:08:17 PM

Sure... just not until after the banquet.   Wink

No fair deleting stuff from your post!!  Now the rest of the thread doesn't make sense.   Tongue

I was going to ask the obvious question, but then I read your updated sig.    Smiley

How much for the cat?
111  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Factory Five Cobra Build on: December 12, 2014, 06:44:51 AM

If you're looking for a decor/paint scheme, I just saw this guy's collection on an episode of Car Fix.
Found some pictures of it online for you.

112  Events / Rallycross / Re: Local rally crosses on: December 09, 2014, 12:08:43 PM

At Justin's house maybe?
Looks like a nice big space around that new garage.....

113  Events / Rallycross / Re: Local rally crosses on: December 02, 2014, 01:14:21 PM

From what I hear it's a bit of a catch-22, because it's a lot of work to set up a
rally and not worth it if only a few people sign up.  Of course now that we don't
have them any more, not sure how to get enough people interested to start it
up again.

114  Events / Autocross / Re: November 2 autocross @ VMP on: November 25, 2014, 10:22:42 AM

FOUND at VMP after 11/02 autocross:  1 Porsche part

Part# 996.551.101.00 EAR

Plastic trim piece, fits 986/996 driver side footwell near fuse panel.
'EAR' means graphite grey color (looks black to me, but that would be a different code)

See photo here (scroll down to yellow highlight)
It's the plastic piece at the upper left of that photo, i.e. ignore the carpeting.
115  Events / Autocross / Re: Oct 19th TSCC Autocross a Points autocross for VMSC? on: November 24, 2014, 08:25:21 PM

Unless/until something is announced to the contrary, you should assume it still counts for points.
116  General / Open Forum / Re: New Venues for VMSC? on: November 16, 2014, 06:33:54 AM

First Settlers PCA already has an even tentatively scheduled there for late Oct 2015.
But that's all I know.

IIRC VMSC talked to them early in their development, and the vibe we got was that
they would love to have us, but may not have anything available on weekends to
rent to us.  I'm sure we'll keep in touch and find out more as they get closer to
117  General / Open Forum / Re: My Garage Build - The Airboxer Garage on: November 14, 2014, 05:54:55 AM

Is that round thing above the arm rest the door handle?
118  Results / Autocross / Re: Results Nov-2-2014 on: November 03, 2014, 09:11:31 PM
Yes David, you did run as 178.
I remember thinking, "that's odd, he must have let Kate use his number for some reason."

Bud brought his car but did not run, I'm not sure why.
119  Pictures and Media / Pictures and Media from Events / Re: Media from TSCC-VMSC Challenge on: October 22, 2014, 07:07:43 AM
Thanks David, looks like my tire pressure was a little low...

But your passenger sure was having a good time!
120  General / Open Forum / Re: Classic 911 What's the big deal ? on: October 11, 2014, 06:56:05 PM

That's great!!

Now I just have to find one......    Grin
121  Events / Autocross / Re: Oct 19th TSCC Autocross a Points autocross for VMSC? on: October 09, 2014, 01:44:32 PM

Just occurred to me, it might be fun to have a couple of big magnets made up for whatever
vehicle is towing the trailer.    Smiley

(Not a serious suggestion, as I doubt anyone would bother to use them.  But a fun idea.)
122  Events / Autocross / Re: Oct 19th TSCC Autocross a Points autocross for VMSC? on: October 09, 2014, 07:19:09 AM

I can give you the logo I used for the Zazzle store, but I can't attach it here since
there's a 300kb limit on the forums.  I'll try emailing it to you.

123  General / Open Forum / Re: Thinking about doing an Oktoberfest meat at my place. on: October 07, 2014, 07:32:04 PM

It was fantastic!  Thanks so much to you and Claudia for making it great.
124  Events / Autocross / Re: Oct 19th TSCC Autocross a Points autocross for VMSC? on: October 05, 2014, 04:56:52 AM

BTW if anyone would like to make a weekend of this, check out the Air & Auto show on Saturday Oct 18 at the Military Aviation Museum (just up the road from TSCC's Pungo venue).

11am to 4pm, all makes & models welcome, no pre-reg necessary (unless you want to enter the car show).
$15 per car admission at the gate, includes admission to the museum.

This is one of First Settlers region PCA's annual charity events; proceeds go to Food Bank, SPCA, and the Boys' Home of Virginia.  Last year it raised $8000.

125  Events / Autocross / Re: Oct 19th TSCC Autocross a Points autocross for VMSC? on: October 05, 2014, 04:44:30 AM
I did, looks like all is cool.

Not seeing Claudia on the spectators list.... or is there a separate list for photographers?   Smiley
