6  General / Open Forum / Re: Racing Seat or Coil Overs on: June 15, 2017, 06:21:57 AM
When I was doing HPDE's with my vette my instructors advised me to use the stock belts while on the track. The way it was explained to me is that in the unlikely event of a roll over your body will remain upright in the seat and wouldn't be able to slide down to escape crumpling. Multiple instructors with FATT and TrackDaze advised me to do a full cage with HANS or use the stock belts. The harness does make a huge difference in driving comfort, but its not worth the risk in my opinion.

As I understand it, it's a matter of matching your safety gear.  With the stock seat and no roll bar, you want to use the stock safety gear - i.e. the stock belt - to preserve the factory designed safety mechanisms.  If you have a race seat, you really should have a roll bar and harness so that you are protected differently since now the factory safety mechanisms won't help you.

I'm partial to Murray Automotive, 804-378-3374 1731 Douthit Ct. Powhatan, and he has new machines too! And knows how to use them.

Not that you're biased or anything.   Smiley
8  General / Open Forum / Re: A few questions on: March 23, 2017, 06:03:50 AM

Also, if you attend an autocross and work but don't drive, you still get 100 points
for that event.

Try this.

Oh if it rains - even better!  Best way to work on your driving skills.   Smiley
11  General / Open Forum / Re: Riding with your co-driver? on: March 03, 2017, 09:05:35 PM
After the board meeting and an hour and half discussion the board took a vote and it was decided, 6-3 that comp rule 2.7 (B) stands with no changes.

 B. Only the driver and non-competing individuals shall be in the car while it is on the course for competitive
runs unless a navigator or instructor is required by the O.D.(s).

We will be adding a clarification to the as follows:

A driver who has participated in 6 or less events.

Audie Chenery

Clarification refers to definition of a NOVICE.
12  General / Open Forum / Re: PCA - First Settlers on: February 09, 2017, 11:07:51 AM

Yes it does.  Three days on VIR full course.  Registration opens March 1.
13  General Category / Announcements / VMSC Scrapbooks now available, check them out! on: February 04, 2017, 03:30:39 PM

For those who don't know, VMSC has several large scrapbooks of photos, newsletters, and other
great historical artifacts going back to 1951.  They are heavy and unwieldy so they normally have
only been seen at the annual banquet, thence going back into storage for the rest of the year.

Recently the entire collection has been scanned at high resolution for enjoyment year round by
everyone in the club.  Please take some time to check out the results.  They are stored online
in a Google Drive folder with the following URL:
Sharing is set so that anyone with that link should be able to see them.
Let me know if you run into any issues viewing the, um, issues.

Yeah I think there might be a 300kb limit per photo.

Hah, no ruffled feathers.  People use the poll feature, but the poll is usually related to what they are posting about.  I saw the poll and thought it was an error.  My guess is that Beth did, too.

Yes, that is correct.  No problem.
16  General / Classifieds / Re: ZR1 wheels 17x9.5 with Hoosier P275/40ZR17 A3S05 (set of 4) on: December 14, 2016, 01:29:46 PM

Sorry for the interruption, but did someone create a "poll" on this thread?

If so, it should probably be moved to a separate topic (thread) since it isn't
really related to this one.

If it was done by accident, I can remove it - I just didn't want to do that if
someone created it on purpose.

David's file is available in our Files section (mouse over the "Home" tab at the top of the page,
or just go to our home page and click on the big box at right labelled "Click here to download
files").  Look in the folder called "Public Files".

Thanks to Greg for the updated version, I will put that in our Files section as well.

Another handy file we offer is maps of VMP and RIR, including satellite views and
grids for measuring distances.

18  General / Classifieds / Re: FS: Work Bench on: September 05, 2016, 10:20:28 AM

Sounds perfect for our new garage.... which unfortunately we haven't broken ground on yet.
If the bench is still available in, say, a couple of months we'd be very interested.
19  General / Classifieds / Re: A long shot,! on: August 31, 2016, 08:13:07 PM
3 car garage on 2 acres??
We would have loved a house like yours, in the right location of course.
But downsizing is hard no matter where or when.
20  General / Classifieds / Re: A long shot,! on: August 31, 2016, 06:03:12 AM
I'd be tempted but I'm trying to DE-clutter at the moment.   Smiley

Another option you might look into is your local library.
21  General / Open Forum / Re: Event Time for July 10th Autocross on: July 07, 2016, 09:14:26 AM

Not sure why there's no info on the MyAutoEvents page for Sunday's event.

It seems likely that we'll keep the same schedule that we did at the last
autocross, on June 12.  Event page is here:
22  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Opinions on running by class on: April 26, 2016, 11:35:05 AM

If you have comments or suggestions on our new format of running by class,
please submit them to this thread for consideration by the Competition Committee
and the club board.  Thanks for your input!
23  Results / Autocross / Re: April 2016 Results on: April 25, 2016, 08:31:46 PM

Arrgh, I didn't look at the time slip on my last (and fastest) run, so I
didn't realize I caught a cone on it.  Phooey.

On the plus side, my next fastest was only 0.2 different so it really
didn't make much difference in my placement.

Thanks for getting the results up so quickly!
