3  General / Classifieds / Free Tire Bags on: October 24, 2017, 04:17:11 AM
I have 4 Tire Rack tire bags that I no longer need, they are heavily used but still have some life left. I'll have them at VMP Sunday, first one to claim them here can have them.

Great course as always, we fixed a few issues and found some new ones. Our new issue is losing power after the sweeper, hopefully we can sort this beast out with all of the practice events coming up.

When I was doing HPDE's with my vette my instructors advised me to use the stock belts while on the track. The way it was explained to me is that in the unlikely event of a roll over your body will remain upright in the seat and wouldn't be able to slide down to escape crumpling. Multiple instructors with FATT and TrackDaze advised me to do a full cage with HANS or use the stock belts. The harness does make a huge difference in driving comfort, but its not worth the risk in my opinion.

Great course and a very successful day for us as we both finished all of our runs and only had one small incident. Found out after the event that the throttle wasn't opening all the way under WOT, should be an easy fix and we can work on more speed next time.

My best run 36.392- view at your own risk, camera placement was not on the most stable area but it does give a nice "dreamy effect"

10  General / Open Forum / Re: Riding with your co-driver? on: February 19, 2017, 01:56:36 PM
I see no problems with it as long as everyone has an equal opportunity. As a driver of a single seat car now, that is my choice to give up this opportunity for this advantage, I could drive something else and take advantage of the experience or even ride with someone in their own car. In my experience riding with a novice before or between my runs has always been a distraction and I have given them more attention than my own runs and my times may have suffered because of it. As far as riding with an experienced driver in the same car, there is definitely an advantage and one of the best learning experiences possible. There's no money being won at VMSC events, no national titles, just bragging rights and the experience. I love this club because of the camaraderie and the fact that everyone wants to see their fellow racers learn, improve, and put down the fastest times possible.

Open to offers, would prefer not to store them for the winter.
12  General / Classifieds / Re: 215/45/17 RE71R and Wheels on: October 25, 2016, 05:12:01 AM
Anyone interested if I split them up?
$350 for tires
$350 for wheels, centering rings and lug nuts.
13  General / Classifieds / 215/45/17 RE71R and Wheels on: October 13, 2016, 12:39:45 PM
Ended up trading in the Veloster this past weekend so no need for these anymore.
215/45/17 Bridgestone RE-71R with about 30 runs on them, they were rotated front to back every event so there is plenty of tread left
MSW Type 22 Wheels 17x7.5 45mm offset. Plasti-Dipped blue, this can easily be removed. No damage to the wheels, just to the plasti dip from mounting tires. 3 of the 4 center caps still have the plastic on them.
Also I'm throwing in the Gorilla locking lug nuts & key and the tire bags
$700 for all of it.

Still have the car and unfortunately it sounds like it now has a knock on the lower end. I don't have the time or resources to look at it seriously. May not take much to get it running great again. Asking $3500 if it doesn't sell I'm going to have to part it out over the winter.
16  Results / Autocross / Re: Unmarked cones..... on: July 11, 2016, 07:36:14 AM
I'll take responsibility for that, I thought I had marked them all as I walked the course. I however did not mark the lay down/ wall cones, as it was my understanding they were for safety and clarity, not for penalties. I guess i should have had that clarified.

19  General / Open Forum / Re: God is great, family is good, now I need the best body/repair shop in Richmond. on: January 14, 2016, 01:37:59 PM
We used Burleigh's for my wife's santa fe a few years ago and I have nothing but good things to say about them, very professional and easy to work with. Even though they do mostly high end work they treat everyone the same regardless of what you bring in, which I was pleasantly surprised by.
20  Events / Autocross / VMP Schedule on: October 22, 2015, 05:21:48 PM
I know the times for the events at VMP are different from RIR and there is usually a schedule on myautoevents, but I dont see one for this event. Could someone post what time registration and first car off is for the event?

22  General / Open Forum / Re: Interested in eventually getting into HPDE on: July 18, 2015, 04:19:59 AM
I try to do at least one HPDE a year, unfortunately money and time constrain it to that for me. I would say the biggest and easiest improvement you can make for a track day is switching out your brake fluid to DOT4, this will reduce your likely hood of boiling the fluid and ending your day early or becoming frustrated with the car.

Another thing to keep in mind, pick one organization (PCA, Trackdaze, NASA, FATT, etc.) and do as many events as you can with that club. The records don't normally cross over, so if you were in an intermediate group for one club you may be put into the novice group for the other, which also leads to lots of frustration.
