26  Events / Autocross / Re: OctoberCross 10 and 11 Oct. on: October 08, 2015, 06:31:30 PM
Hello Gene, James said he could help with Tech on Sunday.

Cheers
Engelbert

Engelbert, we should catch a few of Sundays cars at the practice on Saturday and I have Sunday covered at the moment. I'll get with James if we get into a bind.

I'll be there Saturday to tech for practice.

We also have inspectors for Sunday. I'll pick up some more tech dots/stickers.

On a similar classing note.

Is a 125cc kart eligible for JA? or is it KM?

125cc is KM.  That's what he ran at the last event.  I think it's just old info from the JA kart.

It's not JA. The details are on the SCCA site under the rules. I'll verify it this evening.

It sounds like you were reading the "Stock/Street rules. In any case always go to the SCCA site and read the rules there. They are up to date.

Thanks Gunny.
To all: Audie is watching the weather, it's possible that there may be too much rain to run safely tomorrow. It's being looked at now.

Jeff is planning to Tech on Saturday. Is anyone available to help. I'm in Carolina until Saturday night.
Also, I will be there Sunday. Bill L, Charlie P, John P, are you teching?

35  General / Classifieds / Re: 1979 Fiat x1/9 race car on: September 17, 2015, 02:37:28 PM
Hey thanks Pipefitter! I am hoping I can get the car to someone who will get it back out to some events. Fingers crossed.
We have several events left this year, why not bring it out to one? I hear that the VMSC Vice President is very Fiat friendly and we would really like to see it run.

Bernard and I could build an entire car out of just one drawer of that thing.

37  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / READABLE Car Numbers and Class Letters on: August 12, 2015, 10:13:54 AM
At the beginning of the season we asked that all car numbers and class letters be on the car for tech.  At the last few autocrosses we have found that even though the numbers/letters were on the car many of them were unreadable at speed or when viewed from more than a few feet away.  Some were confusing even if you brought a chair and sat down beside the car. Beginning with the next event we will start (again) looking at numbers/letters when the car is teched.  The number should be 8" high. The class letters should be at least 4" high and placed beside the number.  We will not be measuring either numbers or letters; the main objective is that they are readable. Numbers with 2 or 3 different color tapes will not be allowed.
Thanks,
Gene Cooley

38  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: Rules interpretation on: August 05, 2015, 10:56:46 AM
John, the ST classes fall back to the Street rules. As Bill says the only mods allowed are the ones specifically noted in the ST rules (and the Street rules).

No.
Is this a trick question?

Looks like STS to me. What mods do you have that move you from stock?
Did you sign up for STS?

We should have time Saturday to look at the mods you have made to the car.  We can make a decision then. FSP looks correct at the moment.

I'll be there on the 26th. I grabbed the S/P book at the last event to do a little research. Do you need it prior to this weeks event?

Bill, we're good for this weekend.

Gene - if you need anyone to help with Tech, I'll be there early.

Marc, you and Charlie can tech Sunday. I'll fill in if needed. If there are any classing questions
I'll catch them.

47  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: Tech Inspectors Needed for VMP 6/28 on: June 24, 2015, 07:15:13 AM
Bill, David and Marc; depending on how many people sign up 3 can probably handle it. There shouldn't be any classing problems this weekend, but there still might be questions.
The notebook should be in the trailer. Bernard will have a copy of Appendix A in the truck.

We need Tech Inspectors for Sunday 6/28.  David, Charlie and I will be out of town this weekend.  Bernard can help if we get into a bind.
Bill Lloyd and John Peddy are you available?

NASA cancelled, we were offered the date and it was added as a non points VMSC event.
50  Results / Autocross / Re: First Quarter Standings on: June 17, 2015, 09:40:43 AM
Yes, your competition points are calculated from your PAX  times. That's why it's important that all cars are classed correctly. Just for information, the SCCA does not use PAX for normal autox standings.

PAX is not perfect, but it's still the best way to calculate Competition standings when you have a wide variety of cars and classes.
