Hmmm, I'd have thought that a 32" diagonal TV cabinet could easily hold 100 lbs of unwanted Vega parts...

Great event.  Though I think I need to send an independent auditor in to check your cones for embedded spikes.  Raggy will fight another day.  As soon as I get a new radiator on order.

Keath, you might check your motor mounts.  If they are broken that would let the engine/bracket/other part move forward and hit the radiator.

Our Super Vee Tui A/Mod car fits your description perfectly.  It would do exactly what you told it to do.  The problem was that when you told it to do the wrong thing it was perfectly happy to oblige...

UH-OH; I just realized that we put our engine in the wrong place. It should have gone in the trunk???
Missed that one...I hope Bernard doesn't see this.

So here's some in car from the Fiat.

Bernard

I notice y'all never have a problem with accidentally hitting the wipers.

We did have a problem with Ben's knee hitting the gear lever;  we bent it out of the way...We did away with all of those confusing guages too.  We might have to put them back when we get some motor in it.

I forgot to pick up my green folding chairs.  If they are in the trailer then they are good till next month.

With all its mods, I'm expecting FP, but I haven't looked at a rulebook lately.

I don't see the Ghia listed in Prepared, although it should fall under one of the "Volkswagen NOC" listings.  The problem is that your 1915cc engine doesn't fit in any Prepared class except X/P.  Other options are D or E Mod.  It might fit somewhere in SM.

The Spec Racer Ford (car #s 15 and 51) should be in C/M (CGR legal Formula Fords, Spec Racer Fords, and S 2000s) not D/M  (Modified Production Cars).

The karts are for fun.  We normally try to get there about 6:30 to 7:00 and run a race or two before the 8:00 meeting, and one (or two) after.  The points are for attending the meeting (or maybe for eating pizza--I'm not sure which).

12  General / Technical Help / Re: Classless Car Question on: September 09, 2011, 08:13:08 PM
If you are running slicks (racing tires) you will need a roll bar.  You are right in that it does not "legally" fit into any class-- except B/M or A/M-- but I don't see any problem running it in D/M or E/M if you had a roll bar.  (It may pass as an Elan "clone".)  If you have some street tires or "R comps" I think that our rules will allow you to run.  We would really need to look at the car before we can decide.  If you can bring it up on street tires we'll check everything out and let you know.
Note: Our rules normally follow SCCA Solo rules (with minor differences) so usually if SCCA requires something for safety then we will also require it.   If you prepare the car to D or E Mod safety rules we shouldn't have any problem with it, but because it's sort of an unknown we will still have to check it out.
Hope this helps, email me and we can discuss details,

13  Events / Autocross / Re: 3/27 Autocross Canceled on: March 28, 2011, 11:29:46 AM
I tried to register for the 4/10 event, but there appears to be a "required" field that only accepts "Novice" or "X tire" classes.  Can this be changed to add "Open class" or can the "required" be taken off of the Novice/X tire choices?
Thanks,

David, we would like 2 slots, back to back if possible to avoid moving the car between pulls.  We can work with whatever times are available during the day.

David, Bernard an I may want 2 slots, but we won't know for sure until Sunday.  We need to install a header/exhaust sys, upgrade the Megasquirt, move the radiator and water pump and rework the fuel sys to accomodate the radiator...  We will keep the one slot that we have now and try to let you know about the second by Sunday afternoon.

Bernard and I will be bringing the Fiat.

17  General / Open Forum / Re: What type of Racing Harnes are you using on: February 09, 2010, 09:49:42 PM
Bernard and I use the 6 point G Force in the Tui and probably will use the same type in the Fiat.  We have always used the latch type but that's just personal preference.  OG Racing carries them for about $85.

Eric?

Not sure when you ran your TVR last, but things have changed in the last few years.  The average charge for a lot is about $1000 a day (and up to $8000 at some places).  Insurance has gone up also.  Not to mention that money is worth a lot less than it used to be and getting more worthless by the minute.  That is why costs have risen.

Your car should be good in either X/P or D/M.  The interior removal gets you out of S/M, the "engine swap" (even though we both know it's basically the same block) probably puts you out of E/P.  You may want to recheck the E/P rules to see if the 1500 is a legal replacement for the 1300 in a 128.

Stick it in D/M if you have any doubts, it's certainly legal there.  If you make it out tomorrow check with me, I'll be there to tech cars in the morning.  I'm most likely not going to bring my A/M car to run tomorrow as rain/snow don't work will with formula cars on slicks.

Good to see a Fiat showing up.  Judge Parker is building an 850 Spider, I still have my 600 sedan and I will be bringing it out later in the year.

Christofer Cann has a Mazdaspeed 3 listed in D/M for the 9/14 Event.  Chris, I'm not familiar with your car, but if you still have the original 2.3L you should be in E/M.  D/M upper engine limit is 2L, E/M is above 2L.  If you need addl info, I should be there Sunday; or email me at genecooley (at) comcast.net.

21  Results / Autocross / Re: Father's Day Follies 06/15/08 Preliminary Results on: June 16, 2008, 06:45:02 PM

Scott, thanks for posting the results so quickly.  I do have a question though.  When Bernard (#40) made his "40.970" run we were told that the display showed "40.097".  We checked later and the 40.097 was confirmed, or at least I thought it was.  The results show the 40.97 time.  Could someone recheck and see which was correct?
Thanks,
Gene Cooley

I don't think that I know him, but I went back through the Tidewater archives and he has been running cars for several years, so I assume he is over 16.  Anyway, he should be good to go!!
Thanks,

We have an F125 (kart) signed up for the Championship Series.  F125 is an SCCA class and he should be allowed to run with us even though we don't normally run karts.  Do we need to modify our insurance coverage for this event or are we OK as is?

25  Events / Autocross / 9-16 event.... on: September 23, 2007, 10:19:04 PM
This was a great event.  The temperature was perfect, the course was challenging and a great use of the site layout.  It was fast in places, but also technical in others.  The asphalt was clean; smooth as always.
I like running this site because of the good surface, but also because it feels like we are running an "autocross" NOT a "miniature road race".  You can actually watch the cars make their entire run.
Thanks to everyone who helped with site acquisition, course layout, set-up and workers that made this event (and all of our events) happen.
If you missed this one, you missed a good one!!
