Outside chance the Monza will be there. Many things left to do to it, and we're in the middle of moving into a new home, (what was I thinking???), so it's a long shot.

It's all fun and games until a chain comes off and wraps up a spindle. Still it's a motorsport I would watch!

The Vega now resides in Hanover, PA. The buyer showed me some of his collection, including a dead ringer of Dan Gurney's old Trans-Am Cougar. The intentions for the Vega are to make a Vintage Dirt Modified out of it, to be used for shows and a few exhibition events. The buyer has the chassis from Bobby Allen's, Vega bodied modified, and plans to use this body on it.

Nah. It likes the great outdoors. This poor little car never saw the inside of the garage, but my '73 Vega lives in there. So....I haven't freed up any room. I will be trying to sell my Monza IT/A car soon though. It lives in a trailer.

It's official. Heading to Hanover PA next week to become a dirt modified. Darn sure beats hauling it off for scrap.
81  General / Classifieds / Re: Chump car, Lemons racer, rat rod...... on: January 15, 2016, 03:56:05 PM
Believe it or not......I think it's headed to PA to become a modified dirt car!

It's like a Fiat except it rusts at a slightly slower rate. Or a slightly faster rate. I forgot. It could also be a Land Speed Record car, a dragster, a mini-stocker, a mud-bog vehicle, a rally, or rallycross car. The sky's the limit. You and Bernard have already put a GM engine in a Fiat, now put a Fiat engine in a GM product. Smiley

I'm selling a '75 Vega notchback. Pics are in Richmond CL, under "Chevy Vega". It's all there, but needs work. VERY negotiable on the posted price. Cosworth sway bars, KYB shocks, GT wheels.
84  General / Open Forum / Re: God is great, family is good, now I need the best body/repair shop in Richmond. on: January 14, 2016, 08:05:29 AM
I'm glad everyone is okay. These days, almost all body shops follow the same protocol on repairs. They even have to, (according to a body man I know), make the welds weak enough that the "crumple zones" will crumple. I haven't needed a body shop in while, but I'll ask my nephew who worked for an auto paint company who he likes.
85  General / Open Forum / Re: media blasting in central va. on: October 25, 2015, 11:37:34 AM
I want to finish stripping the clearcoat from the roof of my old 4Runner. I've stripped everything I can, but the back of the top is a bit more detailed, and I keep gouging the fiberglass. Not a huge area, I spoke to a guy who uses a "wet" sand blast method, but he advised against it. His advice was to sand it, but where the clearcoat stuck, it STUCK! It's like sanding a mirror.
86  General / Open Forum / Re: media blasting in central va. on: October 23, 2015, 07:52:32 PM
No way, Justin. I've about got this retirement thing figured out, and don't want to screw it up by going back to working again.
87  General / Open Forum / Re: media blasting in central va. on: October 23, 2015, 07:15:30 AM
I've spoken with a couple of folks in Chesterfield who use a silica based media which they say is too aggressive. The soda blast method is shouldn't cause any damage. I'll do another search. Thanks for the replies.
88  General / Open Forum / media blasting in central va. on: October 22, 2015, 01:43:05 PM
I am in need of some soda blasting on my old Toyota. I contacted Soda Blast in Oilville, but they can't get to me until the end of November. It's a small job, and my attempts to remove the paint/clear coat have caused more damage than I'd prefer. There was a guy in Chesterfield that did this stuff, but I can't find his number anymore.
89  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: tire shopping need help class car and tire permitted on: October 18, 2015, 07:17:20 AM
Without "R" compounds, is there a CAM based class for that car? I haven't looked, yet.
90  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 15, 2015, 07:27:51 PM
I saw it on CAM Nation's FB page. It may be a local thing from a Kentucky SCCA region. For C4 and up CAM legal Corvettes.
91  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 14, 2015, 06:04:44 AM
And now there may be a CAM-X!
92  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 10, 2015, 04:55:45 PM
I can't imagine why anyone with a pony car bitching about not being competitive in an ST class. I'm sure they did, but question why. I picked 1995, (or whatever), because it's 20 years. I don't think that being 20 years old makes it a "classic" either. (I don't think old rusty Porsche's, British cars, or Z-cars are "classics", either).  Maybe 25 years would be better. I remember the 150-180 hp pony cars, and they are still classed in F/S, and E/SP. They can't legally compete in either. Automotive evolution takes its' toll. Stuff an LS or a Coyote under the hood and let the good times roll.
93  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 09, 2015, 05:20:32 PM
I wasn't aware of any ST class for Pony Cars. STX was around a few years ago and was limited to 305 cubic inches. I think the fact that Sam took the CAM Challenge in an F/S car reinforces my opinion. The car is competitive in F/Street, E/Street Prepared,C/Prepared, and will be in ST/P. I think CAM should be just that...CLASSIC American muscle. Anything built after 1995,(or whatever), isn't eligible. Just my .02.

Gene, I've sent you a PM.
95  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 05, 2015, 08:01:28 AM
There are some very serious CAM cars out there. Mary Pozzi beat Al Unser Jr. at the solo nationals in CAM-T this year. So it's I remember when ST classes were started, and the talk of a muscle car type class for engine swaps etc. When Good Guys started having autocrosses at their events, and USCCA came along, SCCA took notice and CAM got started. I like the idea, but think they could get by with CAM-Traditional, and the new STP class.
96  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 03, 2015, 07:41:39 AM
I've read and re-read the rules regarding CAM and get more confused each time. Kind of like the way ST took off from the original ST class. Remember that? IIRC no "R" compounds, no turbos, super chargers, twin cam engines limited to 2 liters, single cam engines to 2.6 liters. Then it exploded.
97  General / Autos and Autosport / Yet another CAM based class. on: October 01, 2015, 08:04:28 AM
Now there's STP, or "Street Touring Ponycar" class.
98  Events / Autocross / Hope to make 9-27 event. on: September 23, 2015, 06:30:10 PM
I signed up for the event but will be in Charlotte until some time Saturday. In the event that I don't get in until late, I will not be at the event. Hopefully, we'll make it back at a reasonable hour.

We have an event next weekend. If possible, you could tow it over there and let folks see it. Just a thought.

I would think with Dominion Raceway being built in Thornburg, selling it should get easier. At least I'm hoping so with my ITA car. IF I wasn't under a self imposed "auto and toy purchase moratorium", I'd scoop it up. Best of luck with your sale!
