We haven't had much activity in the class, but we do recognize it.
552  General / Autos and Autosport / A little Corvette trivia.... on: October 28, 2005, 06:45:51 AM
More trivia.........

1. When was the "ZL-1" Corvette introduced?

2. How many were made?
553  General / Autos and Autosport / A little Corvette trivia.... on: October 28, 2005, 06:44:35 AM
You are correct. I didn't know that, personally.  A friend had an '80 L-82 with a 4 speed, and I confused myself. I remember a California emissions car with a 305 and an auto being tested in the early '80's and limping to a mid 16 second quarter mile. My, how things have changed.

There were 2 guys at last weeks meeting that expressed an interest in attending the school. Audie took down their names.

Officially, there was no 83 Corvette, although 43 were built. The quality was so poor, that by the time it was tolerable, it was introduced as a 1984. Only one of the 43 is still known to exist, and it's in the Corvette museum. All '53,and '54 Corvettes were automatics. Somewhere in the mid to late 70's, I think most California Corvettes were automatics, some equipped with a 305 engine.

Scott's correct, only 230 Corvettes were built with 3spd in 1969, the last year it was standard.

With so so many folks interested in, and autocrossing Corvettes, I have a few Corvette trivia questions........

1. What was the last year a "big block" was available in a

2. What was the last year a 3 speed manual was the standard
     transmission in a Corvette?

3. What was only year a 396 cid engine was optional in a
Corvette, and what was its' rated hp?

561  General / Classifieds / Nice ESP car for! on: October 21, 2005, 10:11:50 AM
Pat Griffith is selling his ESP Firebird. Pics can be seen @"" in the classified forum. I don't need any more "toys", or I'd own it.

565  Events / Autocross / classing questions.... on: October 15, 2005, 05:29:53 PM
If there are questions regarding the classing of vehicles, PLEASE ask someone on the comp committee before the end of the event.
We can't change someones class after the event. To aid in properly classing your car, fill out BOTH sides of your registration card. The back of the card asks what mods have been made. The comp committee thanks you.
566  Events / Autocross / OD FOR 10/16 on: October 15, 2005, 12:15:28 PM
I understand that there is a mud bog going on tomorrow @VMP. We may need to close the gate, or post someone at the end of the lot to keep people off of the course.

568  General / Autos and Autosport / SM2 Vega on: October 15, 2005, 04:56:07 AM
Vega restoration/resurrection begins. Potential F/SP, or oddball STS car. Maybe I'll buy another motorcycle. Still thinking about a tractor. Perhaps a set of Hoosiers for the Hyundai? So much stuff, so little time.
569  General / Autos and Autosport / Member does well at Run-Offs... on: October 14, 2005, 06:49:15 PM
Little article in todays paper about one-time member Warren Montague winning the GT Lite class at the run-offs last month. I crewed for Warren at an event many years ago at Summit Point with Jim Moore. Scott Fritchley couldn't make the trip, and another set of hands were needed. He was running an old body style Carolla at that time. I also saw where Bill Hunter qualified well but must have had trouble based on his finish. Pat's Acura hasn't self destructed lately, so I haven't spoken to Bill lately.
570  Events / Autocross / OD FOR 10/16 on: October 11, 2005, 02:36:52 PM
Tom Yost and I have the event on 10-30.

571  Events / Autocross / calling Gene Cooley. on: October 06, 2005, 06:42:10 PM
Gene, we can use my Toyota to pull the club trailer on Sunday. I didn't want to see you drive your Suburban down there with gas like it is. Unless you want to. :omg:
572  General / Technical Help / Ride Height on: September 27, 2005, 04:57:58 PM
Yep, Mike told me the damage was done while in the trailer, on the way to the Nationals. But that car is in A/SP, so he can lower it almost any way he likes.
573  General / Open Forum / Well, Scott you just talked yourself into a job on: September 26, 2005, 05:08:04 PM
After the event that Tom and myself put on at Manchester in August, I feared we were in the same predicament. Looking at the stuff that needed to be loaded, I had already decided I was going to stuff it in as best I could. However, after changing his tires, another of VMSC's "unsung heroes" came down to the course to lend a hand. He knew where everything needed to go, and his help was greatly appreciated. Perhaps better communication between the OD's would have prevented the problem. No one on the current board considers Audie's job as thankless, and I hope she knows this. Her performance is outstanding.

I can help out on Sunday.

Actually, the times that will count for Roger will be those in his own car. The runs in Keath and Donna's car will be fun runs.
