101  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: tire shopping need help class car and tire permitted on: October 18, 2015, 07:17:20 AM
Without "R" compounds, is there a CAM based class for that car? I haven't looked, yet.
102  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 15, 2015, 07:27:51 PM
I saw it on CAM Nation's FB page. It may be a local thing from a Kentucky SCCA region. For C4 and up CAM legal Corvettes.
103  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 14, 2015, 06:04:44 AM
And now there may be a CAM-X!
104  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 10, 2015, 04:55:45 PM
I can't imagine why anyone with a pony car bitching about not being competitive in an ST class. I'm sure they did, but question why. I picked 1995, (or whatever), because it's 20 years. I don't think that being 20 years old makes it a "classic" either. (I don't think old rusty Porsche's, British cars, or Z-cars are "classics", either).  Maybe 25 years would be better. I remember the 150-180 hp pony cars, and they are still classed in F/S, and E/SP. They can't legally compete in either. Automotive evolution takes its' toll. Stuff an LS or a Coyote under the hood and let the good times roll.
105  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 09, 2015, 05:20:32 PM
I wasn't aware of any ST class for Pony Cars. STX was around a few years ago and was limited to 305 cubic inches. I think the fact that Sam took the CAM Challenge in an F/S car reinforces my opinion. The car is competitive in F/Street, E/Street Prepared,C/Prepared, and will be in ST/P. I think CAM should be just that...CLASSIC American muscle. Anything built after 1995,(or whatever), isn't eligible. Just my .02.

Gene, I've sent you a PM.
107  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 05, 2015, 08:01:28 AM
There are some very serious CAM cars out there. Mary Pozzi beat Al Unser Jr. at the solo nationals in CAM-T this year. So it's I remember when ST classes were started, and the talk of a muscle car type class for engine swaps etc. When Good Guys started having autocrosses at their events, and USCCA came along, SCCA took notice and CAM got started. I like the idea, but think they could get by with CAM-Traditional, and the new STP class.
108  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 03, 2015, 07:41:39 AM
I've read and re-read the rules regarding CAM and get more confused each time. Kind of like the way ST took off from the original ST class. Remember that? IIRC no "R" compounds, no turbos, super chargers, twin cam engines limited to 2 liters, single cam engines to 2.6 liters. Then it exploded.

Now there's STP, or "Street Touring Ponycar" class.
110  Events / Autocross / Hope to make 9-27 event. on: September 23, 2015, 06:30:10 PM
I signed up for the event but will be in Charlotte until some time Saturday. In the event that I don't get in until late, I will not be at the event. Hopefully, we'll make it back at a reasonable hour.

111  General / Classifieds / Re: 1979 Fiat x1/9 race car on: September 19, 2015, 07:28:48 AM
We have an event next weekend. If possible, you could tow it over there and let folks see it. Just a thought.
112  General / Classifieds / Re: 1979 Fiat x1/9 race car on: September 17, 2015, 01:45:21 PM
I would think with Dominion Raceway being built in Thornburg, selling it should get easier. At least I'm hoping so with my ITA car. IF I wasn't under a self imposed "auto and toy purchase moratorium", I'd scoop it up. Best of luck with your sale!
113  General / Classifieds / Re: 1979 Fiat x1/9 race car on: September 16, 2015, 12:51:09 PM
Wow. If you look under, "Autos and Autosports", I posted the topic "CL racecars". Yours is one I mentioned. Yours is a great deal, but I've almost finished reassembling one that I blew several years ago. You're right, the logbook is a huge selling point!
114  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: CL race cars. on: September 02, 2015, 06:49:25 AM
Also a 914 roller for around $2000.00. With logbook.
115  General / Autos and Autosport / CL race cars. on: September 01, 2015, 08:30:44 PM
A quick search of race cars on CL turned up an IT/C Fiat X1/9 for $2700.00 with trailer, a spec Miata for around $9000.00, a Honda endurance car with a blown motor for $500.00, and a couple of Legends cars. Plenty of quarter milers, and oval stuff also.
116  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Optima Charlotte 2015 on: August 12, 2015, 06:15:36 PM
Great pictures, thanks for posting. Even saw a hit-n-miss engine in there. There were a load of USCCA cars at SEMA. My favorite was hemi powered Valiant re-badged as a "Violent". Sounds like you did really well, and it looks like a fun series. What are the tire rules?
117  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: Rules interpretation on: August 05, 2015, 09:57:35 AM
SCCA, (like most sanctioning bodies), will only allow us to do what they say we can. In other words, (from a conversation I had years ago), "Unless they say you can, you can't". I believe we can thank the late, great Smokey Yunick for that.
118  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Gene.....you have mail..... on: August 01, 2015, 02:26:55 PM
PM sent, Gene.
119  General / Open Forum / Re: Interested in eventually getting into HPDE on: July 16, 2015, 03:22:24 PM
I'm not sure, but I think anti-freeze is a no-no. I had "water wetter" in my car when it was on the track.
120  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: Can't make the event on the 19th. on: July 16, 2015, 03:20:31 PM
I'll be there on the 26th. I grabbed the S/P book at the last event to do a little research. Do you need it prior to this weeks event?
121  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Can't make the event on the 19th. on: July 16, 2015, 09:18:41 AM
I won't be able to help with tech at the autocross this weekend, due to a prior commitment.
122  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: Tech Inspectors Needed for VMP 6/28 on: June 24, 2015, 06:23:27 AM
Gene, if Bernard is running, (and you see him prior to the event), please send that blue notebook with him. It'll help with classing.

I'll be there.
124  Events / Autocross / Re: NASA at VMP. Cancelled? on: June 21, 2015, 07:43:18 PM
That's what I assumed, but their event was still listed.
125  Events / Autocross / NASA at VMP. Cancelled? on: June 21, 2015, 07:50:34 AM
I was just on MAE and saw that NASA had an event at VMP on the 28th. I'm assuming they cancelled. Or are we running together? Just curious.
