Great course. I'd like to try it again with good tires, and my head on straight!
2  Events / Autocross / Ice driving... on: November 20, 2017, 06:44:23 AM
I have to be honest...I have never been comfortable autocrossing my Camaro. I've been competing with it since 2003, and haven't been happy with the way I've driven it in more than 15 events, (and there are a lot of events in that length of time!). It has 1 or 2 PAX FTD's to it's credit, and many top 10 indexed finishes over the years. But yesterday?Huh? Geez. Four seasons on tires that weren't real good to start with, and the discovery of yet another broken front sway bar pillar bracket made for a handful. (Once I got it home). I did notice the course workers hiding behind poles when I was on the course, and I don't blame them. Smiley On the plus side, I'm ready for winter driving. I turned 14,000 miles on the car driving home.

Great. They're all yours.
4  General / Classifieds / Free racing posters. on: November 10, 2017, 12:24:29 PM
I'm tossing out some old racing posters. I know there is a Stroh's Capri, a Camel GT, Raybestos NASCAR, Wally Hilldebrand's Indy Car and several others. They are not perfect. I can bring to next weeks event if anyone wants them.
5  General / Classifieds / Re: Need a Small Block Chevrolet engine and transmission or 1957 Chevy parts on: November 06, 2017, 06:14:10 AM
The 2.02 heads are expensive and hard to find. A set of "Vortec" heads will flow as well, and can be found anywhere. They will require a different intake and valve cover, however. Back in "the day", 283's powered an assortment of vehicles in every sort of motorsport. In NHRA stock classes, I've seen them in the 11's and 12's in tri-five Chevies, and later full sized cars. A tall rear, and a 4L80E trans will make it pretty quick. Lots of books on the subject out there.

Well aware of the reason behind running by class, (something I campaigned for when we went to PAX for points, to no avail). However, when I ran with other clubs that ran by heat, you could run in another heat. However, in the event there was a weather advantage, your runs did not count. All I wanted was clarification on what we were doing.

Just for my information. In the event you prefer to run a heat other than the heat your class is running, are you required to run in a class that IS running in the heat that you've chosen to run in? That's what I've gleaned from the discussion so far. Again, running by heat was supposed to prevent a weather advantage, nothing more.

You might need Englebert's input on this.
10  Results / Autocross / Re: April 30 Results on: May 02, 2017, 10:30:11 AM
I agree with Shane on this. Camaros up to '92 are CAM-T. I thought the reason we ran by class was to alleviate any weather advantage in a given class. Unless running in another heat gave Courtney an advantage he should be in CAM-T. That's what I've always thought anyway.

A big enough zip tie will hold it as well.
12  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: Annual tech/permanent number..... on: March 22, 2017, 01:16:36 PM
Thanks, Gene.
13  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Annual tech/permanent number..... on: March 22, 2017, 05:12:41 AM
I asked the other day whether or not I could have annual tech done to my car this Saturday. I will not be running the event, but would like to have tech performed, if at all possible. My other question is in regards to permanent numbers. A quick scan through the numbers on MAE didn't show me,(Bill Lloyd), or my number, (63). Is there any way to correct this?
14  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / annual tech. on: March 21, 2017, 05:39:43 AM
I'm unable to make either event this weekend, but would like to have the Camaro teched for this year. Is it possible to have that alone done this Saturday?
15  General / Open Forum / Re: Riding with your co-driver? on: March 03, 2017, 07:10:37 AM
I found where I asked this same question in June of '14 under the "VMSC Business". At that time, many people felt that riding was fine for instructional purposes, and nothing more. Maybe we've evolved to a point where that isn't the case any more. I was however, called down for not stopping the competitor I mentioned who was wearing flip flops on his runs. In my defense, I was running the heat I saw him and thought he was simply riding. Anyway, since he WAS driving and didn't have any issues, I feel that flip flops should be considered legal footwear during competition.

If we're changing a club's bylaw, is a membership vote required?
17  General / Open Forum / Re: Riding with your co-driver? on: February 21, 2017, 03:42:26 PM
Does the SCCA allow it?
18  General / Open Forum / Re: Riding with your co-driver? on: February 20, 2017, 06:37:04 AM
The original question is whether or not drivers of the same car can ride with each other. If you have more than two people co-driving a car, can they ride too? Not being clever, but it will come up eventually. Riding with a beginner, or to help someone familiarize themselves with the course shouldn't be an issue, and I'm glad we softened our stance on it. But again, if we're going to abandon the rule completely, be sure it's publicized to every competitor.
19  General / Open Forum / Re: Riding with your co-driver? on: February 19, 2017, 06:39:20 AM
I offered to ride with a novice at VMP some time back. It was his first event, and he couldn't find his way around the course, his buddies were there and he was embarrassed. I was told by the OD that I would forfeit my next run. That was fine, because it was the rule, even though I stood to learn absolutely nothing from the experience. It is an advantage, especially in a competitive two driver car. Think about it...two already competitive drivers, sharing information and chipping away at a what already looks like an insurmountable lead to the rest of the cars in the class. And while Chris makes a good point regarding data-logging, Those numbers are from what YOU just did, not experiencing the car on the course in the hands of a driver equal to yourself. We don't "really" enforce the rule now so we may as well do away with it. Just make sure it well publicized so the timing trailer/1st vice isn't overrun with questions, and complaints. Just my .02 worth.
20  General / Technical Help / Re: 2017 street tires on: February 12, 2017, 06:36:56 AM
The NT-01's aren't legal in street, or CAM. I think their tw is 100. The NT-05's are legal, but suck. I couldn't find anything that would fit the Camaro's wheels properly.

Sold. Headed to New Jersey for a new career in Vintage Racing.

That's what I thought it said. Looks like it's sold to a guy in New Jersey, anyway.

I've posted the car to Racingjunk and Craigslist Richmond with lots of pictures. I'll try and post the pics here, but I keep getting a message that the file is too large.

I didn't notice the poll at the top of the post. But yes, it should be moved and I for one would like to see the results of that poll. Again, sorry for the misunderstanding, and I'm sure Nick, (who probably missed the poll also), is as well.

I just now noticed the poll. No idea how it got there.
