1  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: VFW show @ McGuires is still on. on: May 18, 2013, 06:32:40 PM
I went, and there were very few cars. The old truck got soaked coming home. I don't see why they couldn't have a monthly "Cruise-In" out there. They certainly have the room.
2  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: VFW show @ McGuires is still on. on: May 18, 2013, 10:43:46 AM
It won't be next weekend. They told me it takes 2 months to organize it. Probably sometime in the fall.
3  General / Autos and Autosport / VFW show @ McGuires is still on. on: May 18, 2013, 06:32:52 AM
The format has changed according to the guy I spoke with, but they would still like to do something for the patients. They don't expect to get it going until around 11:30, or noon. I plan to head out there around 11.

I think the headers keep him out of stock.
5  General / Classifieds / free TV on: May 14, 2013, 03:02:25 PM
It's a Philips 32PT5441/37 cathode tube set. Maybe 8 years old, and it worked perfectly when it was decided I needed an HD set. I have the manual, the remote, etc, and will help you load it. Unloading it is your problem, and it is heavy! Measures 32 inches diagonally. Free to a good home.....................

I thought you would have heard something by now, but here's my best guess. The mods you list would put you into Street Prepared, or Street Touring, depending on the tread wear rating of your tires. I'm not sure WHICH S/P, or S/T class, but that is where it looks like you belong. Hope this helps.

Sorry to hear it. He was a nice guy.
8  Results / Autocross / Re: 03/24/2013 Results on: March 25, 2013, 06:51:18 PM
F/P seems to have morphed into C/P unless there was a huge classing change over the winter.
9  Events / Autocross / Tomorrows event. on: March 23, 2013, 03:33:18 PM
I can't make it due to unexpected, (to me anyway), company. I hope all goes well, and the weather holds out for you guys. Registered as number 63.
10  General / Classifieds / Vendor spot for Charlotte Autofair. on: March 09, 2013, 04:07:23 AM
I have a vendors spot inside the track for the auto fair, which is April 5th-8th. If you have never been, it's a swap meet with cars, parts, tools, anything automotive for sale. The entire infield is full and much of the parking area outside of the track is as well. The tickets will get 2 people in for all 4 days, as well as a 10'x30' parking area. The cost is 95.00. There are plenty of motels around, or you can camp at the spot if you prefer. The only reason I won't be there is my grand son is having his second birthday that weekend and I don't want to miss that. There are some import and road racing/autocross items normally, but not a whole lot.

We should have one. The "VMSC Gravity Racing Championship". Or VMSCGRC for short. Cheating encouraged. Google "valve cover racing" for more ideas.
12  General / Open Forum / Re: The simplest form of racing! (Pinewood Derby) on: January 27, 2013, 02:19:18 PM
It was fun. I had both boys draw their design on the side of the car and I cut it out. They had to sand it, paint it, clean up the "axles". I added the weight. The car I built was almost embarrassing it was so much faster than the other parents. I honestly built in less than an hour, but no one believed it. But hell, we're talking racing here aren't we?
13  General / Open Forum / Re: The simplest form of racing! (Pinewood Derby) on: January 27, 2013, 07:01:58 AM
Congratulations, that's a great looking car, and takes me back 20 years! We had an adult class when my sons were in scouts. I made one and it became obvious that I was the ONLY parent who took it seriously. With the weight in the rear, the car was slow on the ramp, but flew on the flat part of the track, with the weight in the front, it flew down the ramp, but slowed on the flat part. We experimented with these things, and the fastest we ever made looked like a skateboard. Notched out the bottom of it, and attached the weights in the center. Fun times.

At one time, those were included in VMSC membership packages. I still have mine around here somewhere.
15  General / Open Forum / Re: Fluids used in AutoX and Daily driver on: January 12, 2013, 08:01:11 AM
Amsoil in the Camaro and the Monza. Whatever is on sale in almost anything else. Redline PS fluid in the Camaro, even though it has a cooler on it.

Actually, I knew you could sell on CL, but I haven't done too much of it. I've bought a ton of stuff though. I have given away a ton of stuff from around the house, and even that can have drama. "Can you hold it for me?", "I have to wait to borrow my brother's truck", "Can you deliver it to Northern VA?" and so on. Jeez folks, it's free! Anyway, I'm glad to have the space in the driveway!
17  General / Open Forum / Re: A Christmas Miracle....... on: January 03, 2013, 05:37:35 PM
No new projects for me! If I had known how easy it was to SELL items on CL, I would have already done it. I thought it was for purchasing only.
18  General / Open Forum / Re: A Christmas Miracle....... on: January 01, 2013, 08:23:51 AM
It is gone. One project gone.......
19  General / Open Forum / A Christmas Miracle....... on: December 24, 2012, 09:31:52 AM
I sold one of my projects, the '92 Toyota pickup. I think......
20  General / Open Forum / Re: Possible good news! on: December 13, 2012, 03:00:23 PM
PLUS, I wouldn't have to drive all the way to Summit Point to blow up my race car next time!
21  General / Open Forum / Re: Injury's from working on your vehicle? on: December 13, 2012, 02:59:00 PM
Set myself on fire. That is why my beer fridge IS in the garage.
22  General / Open Forum / Re: Possible good news! on: December 13, 2012, 02:57:34 PM
Southside Speedway went through the same issue in the 80's. There was a lot of pressure to shut down the speedway, not only because of the noise, but mainly because of the traffic issues on race nights. In a move that would never fly today, the county backed the speedway. The prevailing opinion was that people who bought property near the track knew it was there, as well as the issues that a race track creates.
23  General / Open Forum / After reading the "Winter Projects...." on: December 01, 2012, 07:27:47 AM
I realized I have more mess around here than Sanford and Son. My 95% restored '69 C-10 needs a new instrument wiring harness. My beloved '73 Vega awaits it's new engine. The '75 Vega my sons drove needs to become a Lemons racer/chicken coop/paper weight/lawn decoration. My '78 Monza IT/A car needs its' engine back from the machine shop, my '87 4Runner just got new quarter panels, and needs paint. A 1966 Sears Custom Six tractor that is almost completely restored. And from the "no good deed goes unpunished" files, I ended up with a '92 Toyota pickup that needs an engine. As a friend of mine says, "Sometimes we create our own hell". I can't wait to retire.

Back to that tractor.....He has to be the bravest driver alive. I've scared myself on my 23hp Kubota, and I was hardly moving. I've seen some healthy V8 powered Ford "N" series tractors too.

What is STF? I like that index. Although I still feel that PAX SUX.
