1  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: Oil catch can on: April 26, 2017, 11:13:11 PM
Not the easiest to empty. It has a single large bolt on the bottom. The original plan was to put a drain valve and a tube running down the frame. But the way its mounted now I can remove the whole thing with one bolt and drain it with the hoses connected.

This is what I ended up doing. A line from the top of valve cover to the catch can, that is bolted to the strut tower, and back into the intake.  Ran it past BRR SCCA board and we are good. As mentioned above for some time now I have noticed some blow by in the intake after the races. After a little research I found it to be extremely common problem with DIS engines and the turbo didn't help my case. So last week when I had the bumper off to change the headlight bulbs( this is a sad thing now with new cars) I pulled the intercooler, piping, and tubing and cleaned. So hopefully this will help keep it that way.
3  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Oil catch can on: April 08, 2017, 03:42:38 PM
Alright everyone, street class rule question. I am looking at running a oil catch can on the veloster to prevent it from regurgitating oil into the intake. I know this is legal as long as its not modifying the pcv system. Anyway after running my system, which blocks off a line going into the intake from the valve cover I have noticed BOV noise. The same you would hear if I removed to recirculation tube from the intake(no performance is gain from this just chuckles). If this is the case would it be modifying the intake, and make it street class illegal? Thanks again.
4  Results / Autocross / 2016 finial points total on: February 20, 2017, 11:43:14 PM
I am curious if it possible to see the finial points rundown from this year? As much as I do enjoy my horses rear end I hope to do better next year or at least get another for matching book ends haha.
5  General / Technical Help / Re: 2017 street tires on: February 20, 2017, 11:36:02 PM
I don't think this is really the year to be stepping away from the proven 71rs just yet. Tire manufactures are catching on to the 200 tread wear market. Fallen has come up with a "new" AZENIS RT615K tire, nexen came out of nowhere with the N'fera SUR4, and Maxxis has been heavily advertising its VICTRA VR-1. Tire rack has even started to pick up brands it never did like falken. Give it another year and I am sure you will see more side by side comparison as people experiment to see what really shaves time.
6  General / Open Forum / had fun at the BarBcross but glad i didn't stay on: October 23, 2016, 02:52:55 PM
Had a great time at the October club autocross and was really kicking myself for not staying for what was looking to be a fun course but the Audi had different plans. It developed a thud when comming off the throttle at high rpms. At first what i thought was a blown mount, then a ball joint, turned out to be a cracked transmission mount support. so i am glad i didn't stay or you might have been cleaning my car off the course. Hopefully it will be ready for the holiday laps at VIR this year with a few durability upgrades haha.

we had one show up at a PCA even this year. Even given PCAs vary loose autocross safety standards they decided against letting them run based off of them being classed as a motorcycle and concerns about insurance if something did happen.

currently they are all still under proposal and may go into effect, unless debated in the coming months, on the first of the year. i wouldn't look at this as anything that has been finalized quite yet. wait for the December fastrack for the real conclusions. as always with these shuffles you are going to have a ton of people upset. I will say, from the veloster community, i don't see much complaint about being bumped down to HS other than why the R-spec will stay in GS. so it looks like its time to invest in new magnets.
9  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: How can i pay at the event.... on: July 09, 2016, 08:38:16 PM
I think with the one planing to show up tomorrow its not the lack of wanting to go. Yet its the fear of not living up to the image of the driving god they have made themselves to be. I think thats why this person waits till the last second to register. Honestly everyone wants to show up to the first event and be a natural. Thinking they need a full on race car to be a winner. So a lot of the excuses are based around waiting to make the car faster. Either way i will bring cash to cover him. I rather see him race then complain.
10  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / How can i pay at the event.... on: July 09, 2016, 06:33:36 PM
So i have a few friends who are always looking for a excuse not to show up. One of them always waits to the last minute  to register complains about pre reg being closed and the extra fee then doesnt show up. Recently he started complaining about not being able to get the cash in time. Long story short has VMSC adopted some sort of way to pay by credit yet? For the most part i pay in advance so i have never noticed. Fingers crossed i can eliminate another excuse.
