General / Classifieds / Slow Resto on a 1957 Chevrolet wagon on a budget

Well oddly enough I found a 283 "Power Pack" motor at a shop here in Richmond. 1957 was the first year they attained 1 hp per Cubic Inch with a primitave fuel injection system, and yes that motor was a 283 with 283hp.. The key to the 283 horsepower was the heads and the fuel injection. I think I can make this work. Now I need a rebuild of the TH350 transmission .... Body work is coming along nicely. I am gonna need a place to spray it ... or I can use my friends field again. Again any 57 Chevy parts are welcome!!! I'll need a good intake / cam / and carburetor for the 283. Isn't there a song called "1 piece at a time" by Johnny Cash! Yep...unmute and enjoy the music. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rWHniL8MyMM

Hello all, I have started working on one of my long awaited projects. When I was 8 years old my father bought me my first car. A 1957 Chevy Station wagon. We took most of it apart and had it blasted, and primered when I was around 18. We worked on this car together and this is where I learned to love cars and do the things I can do. I am working on the body work this winter and will eventually need to get it painted and get a new engine and transmission. I have both a 350 tranny (that needs a rebuild) and the original 283 V8 but the Heavy wagon will need many more horses than the stock 283 will be willing to put out. Maybe some 202 heads and a cam /intake and 4 barrel. I just wanted to put some feelers out in case anyone has or comes across anything, has some double hump heads lying around, or has any necessities or 1957 parts in general. Thanks!!

General / Classifieds / FS 1993 Del Sol

I bought this Del Sol with the intention of using it as a commuter, but at the moment I need cash and not gas mileage!. It can get up towards 40 mpg and is a great ride. It has newer tires, front brakes, paint, plugs etc etc. The runs great and is a blast to drive on survey roads with the top off. It has 150K miles and purrs like a kitten. I am asking $4,250 or best offer here is my craigslist post. Thanks...Mike,D https://richmond.craigslist.org/cto/d/1993-del-sol-del-sol-honda/6355751431.html

Joe, It looks like Robert Clemons changes didn't save, he pre-registered as a Mustang, but he is the one we changed to the Miata (John Peddy's old one). I am sure you know the class. Also Joe .... you did a great job today, lots of us recognized you had to deal with timing/registration/car problems. Glad you made it thru the day!

I am in favor as well.
If we change the rule.....anyone can do it (except those with 1 seat) thus making any talk of an "advantage" irrelevant. I have even thought about ax-ing with other clubs because of this so I can learn more/quicker. I also believe it will bring more people to us. I have several friends that would like to try but not in their own cars, they want to use mine and I am always hesitant to offer it up because of this rule.

Haha ... Me too Paul and especially Mindy have taught me so much over the last 2 years!!! I thought, for a moment, that I (grasshopper) had finally made my teacher proud. I liked the results better the first time, when I was quicker than both the Inskeep brothers. LOL
Thanks for the quick corrections.

Thanks for the quick posting of results! Also thanks to Chris and Gunny for setting the course up, I had a blast. Also want to say a special thanks to Gunny for taking a minute (even though I was frustrated) to ensure I got a good run on the books and ultimately helping me get my best run of the day.

I do want to say thanks to Joe for his hard work and diligence around scoring and timing....as well as trying to implement this new methodology. We have had a handful of hiccups in the software around registration and he has also been very engaged in that arena. Between Mindy, Joe and myself we have been able to make the ends meet with registration. The new set up does make registration much easier. Last year at times we would have 20 or 30 folks asking for special arrangements. Now we just check folks in and wait till the drivers meeting. Much less drama and attitude at registration these days.

You will be amazed by the tires I certainly was! Also a great choice on the rim. I met the owners at SEMA last year, we were amazed by the process and how they machine down a block of metal into one piece rim. The owners/employees are genuinely nice folks. In my opinion Forgeline is the best.
