51  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: March 02, 2016, 09:14:43 PM
Snow is forecast for Thursday night-Friday morning. While we hope it will not be a problem on Saturday, please check here or on the VMSC page on FB before you leave Saturday morning to make sure Dyno Day is not cancelled. We will make the call in concert with Kevin no later than 8:00 Satuday morning.

52  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: March 02, 2016, 09:01:32 PM
Sorry, Don. Thanks for letting me know ahead of time.

53  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: March 01, 2016, 07:54:31 AM
I agree with Beth. I think a lot of us, including Kevin, were looking forward to seeing the Audi.

54  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: February 27, 2016, 08:38:16 PM
Right now, you are second on the waiting list. I suspect you will be fine but we will make the call the middle of next week.

If anyone is signed up and you cannot come, PLEASE let me know.

55  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: February 26, 2016, 09:26:38 PM
I made the change. I deleted Mike's Trailblazer and substituted the Chump Car.

Any idea what you are expecting for hp, Kevin?

56  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: February 26, 2016, 08:21:22 AM
We have filled all 20 spots. Please let me know if you can't make it next Saturday.

Thanks to all who signed up.

57  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: February 25, 2016, 08:04:15 PM
Great. Thanks.

58  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: February 25, 2016, 12:42:13 PM
One slot left.
59  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: February 25, 2016, 07:38:45 AM
Two slots left.
60  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: February 25, 2016, 07:37:12 AM
LOL. Sorry you won't make it, but thanks for letting me know. Bathrooms are money pits, sort of like race cars, but not nearly as much fun.

61  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: February 24, 2016, 02:33:27 PM
We are at 17 cars registered. Kevin's limit is 20 so if you can't make it, please let me know, and if you are on the fence, now is the time to commit. I have also now publicized it to the C&C crowd so I expect the last few slots to go quickly.

63  General / Open Forum / Re: Road Atlanta - ChumpCar Video on: February 19, 2016, 02:39:41 PM
Congrats, Kevin. Great work. I know you are looking forward to the Glen.

64  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: February 09, 2016, 04:24:32 PM
We are up to 10 cars so we only need one more to secure the $50 price.

65  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day on: January 30, 2016, 09:10:57 PM
Kevin says no duallys and no diesels. List the particulars for the wagon and I will substitute it.

66  General / Open Forum / Dyno Day on: January 29, 2016, 08:11:47 PM
It is time for VMSC's annual Dyno day. It will be on Saturday, March 5, at EFI-Performance LLC,
4104 Eubank Rd., Richmond, Va 23231. Kevin Adolph will be our host as in the past. The first pulls begin at 10:00.

Pricing for 3 pulls with A/F ratio upon request depends on the total number of participants we have. The price schedule is:

1-5 - $65
6-10 - $55
11+ - $50

In recent years, we have not had any problems exceeding the 11 participants required to get the $50 price. Please respond to this thread or send email to me @ ogburn <at> gmail [dot] com if you want to participate. Please include your first and last name, and the year, make, and model of the car that will run on the Dyno as well as any additional info that would be helpful to Kevin to be prepared for you. For example, if your '94 Miata has a twin turbo LSx, Kevin would probably like to know. Specific questions about running on the Dyno should be sent to Kevin at kevin (at) flimflamspeed <dot> com.

Observers are always welcome. See you on March 5.

Wow, Mike. I am so glad to hear all are ok.

68  General / Open Forum / Re: Dyno Day 2016? on: January 22, 2016, 04:19:49 PM
We talked about at the last meeting. I gave Kevin some dates and am waiting to hear back from him. The new location is in Sandston at EFI Performance. It is the same Dynojet dyno that was at Performance Autosport.

The same question was posted twice in two separate topics. I have merged them into this one.

70  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: EX35 For Autocross? on: January 03, 2016, 10:18:14 PM
Rule 3.1 of the SCCA Solo Rules addresses it. You need to find/calculate a SSF (Static Stability Factor) value for the vehicle and see if it is 1.30 or greater.

The rule is here: See pages 33-34.

Interesting. Thanks, James.

72  General Category / Ask the Competition Committee / Re: tire shopping need help class car and tire permitted on: October 17, 2015, 09:55:27 AM
Gene knows the more modified classes better than I do, but I think SSM is the right class. There is a minimum required weight, but given that you have a full interior, etc., I don't think you would have a problem meeting it.

Here is the weight rule.

Minimum Weight Calculations (without driver): FWD: 1350 lbs. + 125 lbs. per liter
RWD: 1600 lbs. + 200 lbs. per liter
AWD: 1600 lbs. + 300 lbs. per liter
Supercharged or Turbocharged SSM engines: Add 1.4L to the actual displacement.
Rear wheel weight greater than 51%: +25 lbs. per liter
Tire width 275 mm or less (all): -200 lbs.
Regardless of the weight formulas above, no car will be required to weigh more than 2900 lbs.

Wheel and tire size in this class are unlimited. I think you have to run a DOT legal tire, which for most people means Hoosier A7s.

All of this is subject to check by Gene.

Ok. The ear bar ones are rare and possibly collectible!

I will be there to tech as well.

75  General / Autos and Autosport / Re: Yet another CAM based class. on: October 04, 2015, 07:06:26 PM
I don't understand CAM either and I certainly don't understand why they add STP right after adding CAM. They were already plenty of places to run pony cars.
