2  General / Open Forum / tire to borrow on: April 05, 2018, 06:54:43 PM
Does anyone have a 305/30 R18 or a 305/35 R18 I can borrow for a few days.
all I want to do is to mount the tire on my rim and test fit in on the Vette.

Thanks

Guny

I think if you have a current state inspection that that will suffice for the windshield.
but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Kinda off topic. I was hitting the registration button on this site and it kept directing me to myautoevents.com. Very confusing as the event in a couple of weeks is not listed there. Link/button needs to be changed.

Skidpads are the worst, don't do it.  While the one in the video didn't look too bad, I cant help but think just turning to the finish there would of been better

Skidpads are great as a stand alone tuning tool, but in the middle of the course they tend to be boring and kill the pace.

My two cent.

Point taken.
Thanks for the input.

Hey everybody,
Hope everyone had a good off season and has been able to get those nice new mods on the car. Anyhow Shane and I have a pretty good course for Sunday but I'm looking for some suggestions for Saturday.
I wanted to put a skid pad in but if my memory serves me correctly folks didn't really like it. So suggestions are welcome. So i'm thinking Saturdays course will be pretty simple. may have a cross over at the skinny end of the lot, Slalom. Will probably be about 35 seconds long.

edit
maybe something like this one.

Yes, those brands are a known quality.  I bought a HID set with bulb and ballast from the only outfit that provided a lifetime guarantee.  The ballast are German made.

Man after working on the Passat (lemons car} I feel German engineering is over engineering everything! Very difficult to work on. So ballast that are German made are over engineered and probably expensive. Just a guess, lol.

Thanks guys, I've had the most votes for NT01's, unfortunately they are the most expensive! Of course if they last longer, then thats less mount & balance cost too. How many 20 minute sessions at nccar would you think they average? I've found Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's for 600 shipped, which is about half the NT01's, but they probably will only last a few track days, especially NCCAR.

Only 135 Gunny in the vette? I thought you'd be higher than that! Notice I said "ultimate grip" Obviously I want to stay on the pavement, just don't want Hoosier like grip so I can feel to mistakes, in a safe way of course!

Well I'll follow you into turn one so you can test that "Ultimate grip" on cheap tires! Yea I rounded down, you made me look at my videos. All I could muster was 138, sorry to disappoint.

LOL
your going to have a blast!

Gunny

You know what I mean! Not cheap, but rather low cost good tires!

Is yours LS2 or 3? I think the gearing got taller in the c6 didnt it? I get into 5th at about 133 and half way down the straight if I hit the sweeper right but not sure what I top at, stereo has gps speed but stops at 135. I basically have c5 z06 drivetrain.

LS2 I'm in 4th gear. I think my 4th gear is good for about 150mph. I got close to that at VIR.

It will be on my 3700# (with me) Camaro which eats the outside. Currently around -1.8 camber but I'm going to grind the slots for another -.5 and I have offset bushings that get another -.5 if necessary.

I don't mind dropping a little more for tires that will last and ultimate grip doesn't matter since I'm learning. Also these will be dedicated for track, maybe drive to the track but that's it. Inside storage isn't a problem either.

Thanks for the recommendation!

LOL Grip doesn't matter! Get a Grip! LOL just kidding!
But really grip does matter. I was running on old RS3's and the grip was so bad it wasn't fun going 135 into turn one at NCCAR! In that same session I went off and that was pretty scary. I actually drove home and put my re71r's on to run in the sunday session
Grip Matters, cant learn if your off the track and being a nuisance/hazard to the other drivers on the track.

Lets do a little side bet.
Raw time for all the events your up 1-0 out of 9 events
$50.00

Since everyone is asking about it(not really) the season score for the DARK SIDE OF VMSC CHAMPIONS LEAGUE is 4-4 that means that the final event will decide who will take the non existing trophy and the generous prize of $50.00. I know it's really exciting!!! Can't wait for November!

Awesome!
more excitement than nascar or formula 1 racing. One race takes it all! + bragging rights next year!

Is this a points race for our standings?

I guess the point of why I'm asking is that I spent all of last weekend detailing the Vette. I worked pretty hard getting all the black rubber marks off the car (thousands of them!) anyhow my car is cleaner than the day I bought it and I know its lame but I just don't want to purposely drive it in the rain plus its not a very good rain car to begin with.

Anyone need a Co driver? I'll pay your entry!

ahhhh, sorry to see it for sale!
we had some pretty good battles over the years.
anyhow would like to get pic of your car and mine before you sell it.

Maybe Ricardo will buy it! I saw him with a shirt saying he loves Corvettes!

Englebert
sorry I missed your runs.
in the log I'm showing your 4th run as a 47.492 +1 and your 5th as 47.224.

I'll get those corrections to joe here in a few minutes.

Gunny.
23  Results / Autocross / Re: September 17th Results on: September 17, 2017, 05:22:50 PM
Yea
I had to manually input the runs from the timing sheets (I'm really glad we have those sheets)
anyhow I made a mistake setting up the event and it was setup to record the first three runs.
I manually inputted the runs tonight before having a beer! and I sent them to Joe and he in turn got them posted really fast.

so for the ones affected runs 4 and 5 are listed as 6 and 7

Got to think about it. 4 hours one way is a long way to go for 8 minutes of fun driving! guessing 4 runs each day.
