Junior and Candy are BRR members? I would have thought they were DC Region members. And we still won!

Thanks.

David

Yup, BRR is their region of record. It surprised me too when I downloaded the member list last Friday.  While most of our members are from the I-81 corridor we have some from central/eastern VA, MD, NC, PA, GA,TN, FL, and MI.

We pulled it off at RIR with time to spare but not quite as many people but that may help with shared cars running 5 minutes apart it would have to be a sub 50 sec course non crossing with 4 heats 5 runs, I have faith  Lips Sealed

Should there be a cutoff # implemented ?

OK, so the course should be 50-ish seconds for the fastest cars with starting a car every 25 - 30 seconds. That should be enough throughput to get all the runs in with the available daylight.   That said here is how everyone can help. Where we lose the most time at these events is in the change overs between heats. When it is your heat to work, show up at the trailer early, get your assignment,  and get on station quickly. When it is your heat to run have your car ready and come to grid when you are called.

I'm looking forward to a great day tomorrow.
56  Events / Autocross / Re: 10/9/2011 event rescheduled to 10/16, moved to RIR on: September 29, 2011, 02:59:32 AM
Due to a rained out event at VMP getting scheduled on 10/9, our 10/9 event at VMP has been moved to 10/16 at RIR.  If you've already registered, you are still registered.  If you have already paid and need to get you money back, I believe MyAutoEvents will issue a refund...if not, contact me via PM or email.  If you need to register, it's open here on MyAutoEvents.

Sorry for the late notice and any inconvenience this has caused.

-Justin

Justin,

VMSC.org and MyAuoEvents list this event for the VMSC-BRR Challenge. BRR already has an event (our fund raiser for the Salem Roanoke County Community Food Pantry)  at the Salem Civic Center that day. I spoke with Audie last week and we agreed to use your November 6 date at VMP for the Challenge.

60  General / Classifieds / Rota Slipstreams mounted with Kumho V-710's on: April 24, 2011, 11:25:55 AM
I have 4 Rota Slipstreams mounted with Kumho V-710's for sale.

Here are the particulars

Wheels
16 X 6.5
et +45
56.1 mm centerbore
4X100
13 lbs
white with clear coat

Tires
Kumho V-710
215/40 R16
My guess is that they have  5 or 6 events left in them.

I used these wheels for 5 seasons so they have that race worn patina of nicks and scratches from cone hits and mounting of tires. You can look at the pictures.

I know they fit Mini's and they might fit some 90's Hondas and Acuras.

I'd like to get $400 for the set.

PM me if interested

65  Results / Autocross / Re: BRR-VMSC Challenge Results on: October 05, 2009, 03:44:23 AM
Hey Ray,

Out of curiosity, how was the challenge scored?  From my quick look at the results, it looks like you took your fastest 18 drivers versus all 18 of our drivers.  In the past, I thought we had taken top 10 from each club and averaged them.

If you did score the results as all 18 VMSC members against the best 18 BRR members, I do not that that is a valid comparison.  The odds will be heavily stacked in the favor of the host club if this is the way these get scored.  Think of it like this, I shuffle a deck of cards, I tell you that you can pick 5 cards and I get to pick 15 (signifying one club having lower turnout), I then get to put together the best 5-card hand that I can to compare against your hand...I'll win almost all the time.

I think there are two better options to score the Challenge:

1) Average PAX of all club members.  This incents each club to only invite the fastest members (imagine if Jeff Chenery was the only VMSC member to show up...we would win) and therefore I do not think it should be used.

2) Top X in PAX from each club.  This slightly favors the home team, but not as heavily as the way I described above.  I recommend this way, as long as we can come up with a number...I like the number 10.

Anyways, I've taken the top 10 in PAX from your VMSC/BRR 18-driver per club list and done the math (see attachment).  You guys still end up winning (congrats), but only by a tenth of a second...not 6 tenths of a second.  Let me know if I am mistaken in my assumption that you compared all 18 VMSC members against the fastest 18 BRR members.  I'd like to document somewhere how we want to score these so that we remember next time Smiley

Well when you think about it what we did really isn't any different than your option #2 where the number is the number of drivers of the smaller team. Last year we only brought six guys so the number was six. It's simple and fair enough for what we are doing.

It's a great idea to document the rules. I wouldn't be opposed to coming up with a new formula as long as it is easy to calculate and understand. I wouldn't want this to turn into the BCS Grin

Post up here if you have any questions.

Okay, it looks like we are going to have a good turnout on Sunday there are 60+ registered as of tonight. The weather forecast for Sunday is mostly sunny with highs in the mid 60's... great weather for making horsepower and keeping tire temps under control.

Pre-registration closes tomorrow night. You don't have to pre-register, but it sure makes things easier if you do.  A course map will be posted on the BRR forum on Friday.

if you did go .. when were you planning to go down...

on the 3rd spend the night and come back on the 4th or 5th??

or just go down and comeback on the 4th

The event in Verona is 110 miles (a little under 2 hours) from RIR. That should help you judge your driving time. It is not unreasonable at all to drive over and back the day of the event.

One of the assumptions for the index is that the cars in any given class are prepared to the limit of the rules.  Remember that the index is designed to compare the relative performance of the cars in one class to the cars in another class. It is not designed to compare your car, at what ever level of preparation it might be, to the other cars.

The way I use PAX is to get an idea of how well I drove my car on that day compared to other drivers whose cars are at a similar level of preparation.
