Title: Street Tire Class
Post by: Bobby Smith on March 15, 2017, 02:57:18 PM
Does VMSC run a street tire class? TSCC and ODR/SCCA run an indexed/paxed class where you may run 200 TW tires. For example a BSP car on street tires competes and receives the BSP paxed time and runs against others on street tires with their class also receiving their paxed time.

BRR also has a street tire class.

I too am interested in whether or not VMSC runs a Street Tire class like ODR and BRR.  It's one of our more popular classes as any Solo class allowed to run R-compounds/slicks may run in the Street Tire class on DOT approved street tires with a thread wear rating of 200 or greater.  All the Street Tire competitors are PAXed using their base class PAX to determine the  actual points allocated per event.

There are some exceptions such as FSAE, all the kart classes, all the CAM classes, and SSR that cannot participate in the Street Tire class.  The big question for ODR's 2017 season is whether or not to allow HCR (Heritage Class Race) participate in the Street Tire Class.  (BRR does allow HCR to run in the street tire class.)
