Title: Two driver cars
Post by: avbauske on March 29, 2016, 07:03:48 AM
I was wondering if there are going to be allowances made for two driver cars in our new heat by class system? In the hot weather we cannot hope to keep tires cool when driving the same heat. This seriously narrows the choice of tires we can get for the season.

There's no  "allowance" for 2 driver cars. In many ways it's considered an advantage. On colder days 2 drivers can get some usable heat in the tires. On hot days the best thing to do is check tire temps after each run and (if necessary) spray the tires to get them down to the correct temperature. An infrared digital thermometer is good for quick checks. Usually you can keep tires at their optimum temps for each run.

It is not ideal, but you can pick different classes to run it. Like fsp and the modified class for your car.

This is how you manage tire temps in the hot weather. A two gallon garden sprayer (they are usually less than $20)   will provide more than enough cooling for two drivers on even the hottest days.
