Title: Does anyone have a bore camera I can borrow?
Post by: catapultkid on December 13, 2015, 09:44:56 AM
I need to inspect the oil pump inside the merkur but dont really want to pull the motor again and drop the oil pan.

Just need to read the model number off of the oil pump, by going in from a 1/2" npt fitting welded onto side of the pan. So it will need to be flexable and smallish. No more than 1/2" in diameter

Thanks!

I have a cheap one from harbor freight.  I'll check to make sure it's less than 1/2".
If so I'll get it to Jeff C. and you can get it from him.

Someone posted a similar question on garagejournal and these (link (http://www.amazon.com/CrazyFire%C2%AE-Smartphone-Endoscope-Inspection-Waterproof/dp/B015SMFFV8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1450145103&sr=8-5&keywords=USB+endoscope+inspection+camera) and link (http://www.amazon.com/CrazyFire%C2%AE-Endoscope-Waterproof-Borescope-Inspection/dp/B00EQNCMTY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1450145103&sr=8-3&keywords=USB+endoscope+inspection+camera)) came up.

Thanks Beth!

Justin, those are pretty amazing. Going to order one tonight. So many uses at that length.

Just to close the loop on this. Bought the cable, taped it to a piece of tig wire I was able to snap a few photos of the tag on the under side of the oil pump.

This thing is super useful. It said it was water proof and it is. However I dunked it in oil and it kinda spotted the lenses permenatly however I still highly recommend these if your in the market. It fits down inside of the sparkplug hole with ease. I checked out all my cross hatching that way.

Good news is that I have the correct pil pump, so no need to pull the motor again... at least not for this.
