Title: Autocross 9-11-11
Post by: gunny on September 08, 2011, 04:24:42 PM
Here is a drawing of the course for this weekends event.

It's going to be pretty fast! (sorry Jeff, LOL, well not really the big cars need some lovin after a couple of months at RIR! Ohhh I have a Vette! LOL, lets go fast!)
Anyhow  I may change up the finish a little (to slow it down).

Gunny

We  probably only need about 35 cones, makes it easier to set up and take down   ;D

Good thing I'm bringing the Pearl then, with a fresh new team of horses in the back....   ;D

It appears that the start is closest to the paddock (right side of this drawing), with a "blazing fast finish" on the left, is that correct? ???

Funny, I read it the other way around - with the fast finish being that straight coming out of the carousel on the far right.

But you took the Evo course, so you're used to running courses backwards, right?  ;)

In fact I think I like it better with the corkscrew at the end.  Forces you to keep your brain active right up to the finish, instead of going on autopilot through the last few gates.

Yea the start is closest to the paddock, don't worry about the finish. It has already been stated that it will be adjusted to slow cars down.

'xCrimsonRx' - you looked like you had a bit more of a blast than the rest of us.  So how *was* the grass?   ;D

Fun course my experiment with the stock rims kinda backfired on me though I think the stock c5z06 rims can't effectively give proper turn in with 295 r17 a6 tires need more rim whos got the scoop on some rear c5z06 speedlines or alcoa's ?

Hahaha, I was in the 2008 Miata. Matt was in the 04 RX-8 that spun out. My worst penalty was one cone. ;D

More kudos for a great course! Great to have a very dynamic/exciting course with different types of sections, varying radius, and braking skills tests! More please! Of course, it helps to have a big palette to work with. Hope MEP is on the schedule next year.

I don't think so.  Our fearless leaders (and current keepers of the laptop) probably needed a day to recover from partying all weekend.

We'll give 'em until tomorrow.  Then we'll start with the nagging.   ;D

Sorry to all that had to clean up. The heat got to me and had to leave after my last run. I did have a good time.
Recovered enough to go to work.

No problem, you did your bit long before most of the rest of us showed up.

Scott,

The times shown as my dad's 6th and 7th runs were actually my first to 2 runs, we forgot to change the number on the car.

Sorry,
Bernard

Great event! My thanks to all that helped put this on. I know there were a lot of drivers who did not pre-register, like me, and this was a pain for your registration team. Would it be possible to get my car reclassified form HS to XCS? Not quite cricket to allow a 2007 350Z Nismo to be in the HS class. Although, with a PAX like that, it would knock off over 2 seconds from my time. ::)

Sorry,

I just posted the link when I noticed it up. Not sure who is responsible for the corrections.

Ben Lawes should be ES. I will try to post all the corrections that I see needed as well.

I also want to say thanks to the ole timers that shared there course creation experience with me. I learned a great deal about course creation. It was fun, I look forward to creating some more!  I think they will just get better!
Here is my fast lap!
Still learning to trust the Vette! It has so much more in it.

My first run turned out to be my fastest, for some reason.
Perhaps it was because I hit the windshield washers on the hairpin?

Hopefully the PAX results and RAW time can be added to the results when Justin gets back.

Looks like the following people need to be reclassed appropriately:

Ben Lawes: ES
Dennis Heidelbaugh: STS (ineligible for x class)
Walker Shutze: ST
Kevin Chaplin: XCS
Laura Hancock: NHS
Tyler Hancock: HS
Paul Inskeep: ST
Jordan Robinson: NSTS
Barbara Romine: NDS
Ryan Schullmann: NDS

Reference:

Also, not sure if this can be split up into two threads or not. This is now in the results section. The videos should be under pictures and media.

Should probably move the whole thread to Events/Autocross, since it started out as a course discussion.

BTW 'Jordan Robins' (MR2 #777) is actually 'Jordan Robinson'.
(I guess it was a bit noisy in that registration line...  ;) )

Awwwww, nuts.  I figured it out - the 55.322 was Jeff driving my car, sorry.
I think his two runs were marked with +DNF originally, so they wouldn't count.

My best time was my first, the 59.810 (raw).

Well...... it was nice while it lasted!    ;D   I'll get up there someday.
