Don't watch "Pinks" with drinks...
«

After another day of work on the "Garage-mahal", and watching WRX Subarus and Harley Davidsons drive by, I sat down with a little bourbon and ginger to watch Speed Channel. Somehow, all this must have planted the seed for a dream where Scott Hoffman raced Karen Krause on Pinks. Scott was driving a yellow car (?) and won, Karen was driving her green Z-28, and after losing, just kept on going. I must add, that immediately after their race, someone towing a Jet-ski raced someone towing a sailboat. I don't remember who won that one, cause I was busy watching Karen drive away.:wtf:

Yellow car? May have been Adam's WRX. Would probably put a big hurt on a Camaro in a drag race... See? This is what the off-season does to us!

Hmmmm.....I've driven a bunch of cars, can't remember a yellow one. Maybe it is a premonition! The 2015 Pro Solo Season will have a Pink Slip Challenge. Although by then Karen's Z-28 will have 1,389,125 miles on it and will not have much resale value. Oh well, at least I won! :p

I hope to find out who was towing the jetski and sailboat tonight! Just goes to show that the proper amount of meds, alcohol, meaningless television, and physical labor,(we're putting on a new roof), can create some damn fine entertainment.

Bill,
We have a nice new driving suit for you. One with sleeves that wrap around and tie in the back;)

I thought you were going to say you fell asleep with the torch going like the mechanic from '"Used cars" always did.

Speaking of PAX Sucks...
Why do you watch Pinks, they always give the guy with less power (miata) a head start?
Also, did you know that they filmed two races at VMP? I was talking to the grounds keeper at VMP the last time we were there and he said it should be on in late Jan to early Feb.
He said they had 10,000 plus people there for the races!!

When Pinks first came on, I enjoyed the variety of vehicles, (street rods, a diesel pickup, a few potential 8 second cars), and the racing itself. Once it became a "reality" show, it really lost it's appeal. Launch the cars from the tree, and post the ET and MPH. Better yet, have the competitors drive EACH OTHERS car to see what it will do. To me, only a fool would race their car against ANYTHING, (farm animals, and lawn equipment included), with the cars title on the line. At the NHRA event in October, I met a guy who was involved with the car that won one of the Pinks races. He's from the Varina/Mechanicsville area, and I think they won a Buick GN.
But yeah, I place bracket racing in the same boat as PAX, t-ball, and golf handicaps. :p

Personally, I
LOVE
PAX. Hence the move to HS...
In the end, it's all just a game. The whole secret to ANY racing is to work the rules to your favor, and (like it or not) PAX is part of the rules of this particular game. Then again, maybe I need to join PAXaholics Anonymous...

I don't know of any other motorsport with a "handicap", besides bracket racing. At least with bracket racing, the driver decides his dial-in, which at least represents HIS car's potential. I've PAXed better in F/S than H/S, but can't,(and will never), come close to driving the Camaro as well as I drove the Vega. Sooooo, I know I'm not driving as well, but this "factor" says I'm a better driver than before. Just my .02.

The Vega is currently project number 3, (behind remodeling the kitchen, and completing the restoration of my 1969 Chevy C-10). I hope to make a cameo or two with the Vega in '07.

In the end, PAX is irrelevant. The true competition is within the class; however, if you're in a light class (like HS), you need SOMETHING to figure out where you stand (even if it's flawed). There's really no use complaining about it, because it's obvious that the comp committee isn't getting rid of it... This is supposed to be a sport of drivers more than cars - otherwise, we'd all be in AM or something... Personally, I'd love to have a little, light, winged, FTD-stealing beast.
