:bounce: Attention all VMSC racers. :bounce: VMSC has been asked to put on an Autocross for a Corvette event at VMP on Sun, Oct. 9. The event is called "Vettes At The Park" and is Sat, Oct. 8-9 There will be a "Show and Shine", Drag Race competition and the Autocross on sun. There will be lots for everyone to see and do. I am asking for at least four volunteers. But there is a catch... I need at least two people that know how to use the timer. Computer timing would be a bonus, but at the minimum I can get by using just the actual timing box. The other two would be needed to handle any announcing, time slips, and/or other misc. functions. But wait there's more... If you volunteer I have been told you will get free passes for the whole event (sat-sun) and you will be able to run the course. As I said I need between 4-8 volunteers. I need to know by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. Please reply in this thread. I am sorry for the late request.:ouch:

I can be there with the PC but I don't have the timer. Should I just grab it on the 25th?

Diane and I were just talking about going to this, but realized that it was the same weekend as the Divisional in Norfolk. I'm dying to know it our new car will run an 11.70 @ 120....... That's what the previous owner says.
By the way Keith, I've got two Kumho V710's for real cheap that would fit on the front of your new car. Let me know if your interested.

We decided to run a street tire (Ecsta MX's) until the end of this year. The idea is to run something more forgiving than R compound until we get used to the power and handling of the car then move up to an R at the beginning of next year. We are hoping to get to an evo school or two before the next season gets into full swing. (if any occur close by that is)

VMP is offering free tickets for the weekends event. Volunteers would need to be there early enough to set up a course (design will be provided) to brack it down and put things away at the end. I was told the autocross was to be roughly from 12-4. But that depends on how many cars run, weather, etc. I figure from around 9:30ish to 5 max.

OK.
Here is my optimistic look so far....
I will have Pasha and Joe taking care of timing. And Bill (and maybe Tom too...hint hint) and Jason taking care of course logistics.
Come on VMSC people. We need your help. VMP is our #1 provider in helping us maintain event dates. It's time we give back some help.:bounce:
This is the first time some of our "core" group has other obligations. PLEASE... a few more people step up to the plate and volunteer.

And a course will be provided. The trailer will need to be towed from the fence (at VMP) where it is parked to the spot on the course where it is to be set up. If no one can move it, just let me know. I am pretty sure I can have one of the VMP personell move it for us.

If they are offering free tickets to the event do we just show up on sat and they let us in or do we need to get tickets ahead time if we want to watch on sat.

:grr: ugh :omg: still can't get VMP on the phone, will try AGAIN tomarrow:ouch: I'm going to go on a hunch a say this... If the volunteers want to attend the sat festivities they will just have to let the gate personell know you are part of "our VMSC-Vette" autocross and then go to the office and sign in. They will have the list of names I give them. As far as sun goes... I have been second hand told the autocross will start at 12 and run to about 4 or less depending on how many cars run. I think being there by no later than 9:00 to set up is good and to be there for at least a 1/2 hr. after for clean up. So I am hearing that... Pasha, Joe, Bill, Gene, and Jason will be there on sunday at 9:00 am. It's hard to believe that out of all the club members and others who race with us that I can only get five volunteers. Especially when this good will goes towards our only current autocross venue supplier. To these five people I say THANK YOU. To all others, well, I think you catch my drift :grr: [Edited on 6-10-2005 by funrun]

The fact that this event conflicts with a major event and was only recently scheduled lends heavily I think toward a reduction in volunteers.
This goes back to my post Shame, Shame, Shame.... It is the same people who are trying to keep the club moving just this time a good number of those people are otherwise engaged.
