NASA may have an opportunity to co-host a Saturday & Sunday rallycross (autocross in the dirt) in early October. The site is a couple hours south of Richmond, and well worth the trip.

Entry fees and event structure would be in line with NASA autoXes... that is, less than $50 to participate and LOTS of runs against the clock, with alternating work/run heats so you could participate in half a day.

Would anybody be interested in something like this?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts,

Jon

I think it would be great.  Too bad we don't have anything that we can really rallycross.  The vette would like us very much if we took it rallycrossing.

Never fear, some of us are already talking about going in on a rental car or possibly a cheap auction Subaru for this event Cheesy

Details soon,

So it's definitely a go.  The entry fee is $50, and that should get you *at least* 10 runs (in two different heats, either on the same day or one each day.)

The course is 0.9 miles of dirt separated by grass, and it's very twisty.  (It is behind the plantation valley kart track at VIR, if anyone's familiar with that.)  Pics:

Details will be online shortly (but registration is already open) at http://www.gtlivetour.com/events/att/rally-x/

Note: pre-reg is required, and must be handled by Sept 28.

See ya there,

Anybody else who has the "I'd like to go but I don't have a car to rallycross" mindset, my new beater is your solution:
