It's almost time for our second event of the season, named March Cow Madness, which obviously has something to do with March Madness, and... um, cows, I guess.

Well, you don't need to know what it means, all you need to know is that it'll be fun!  Again we'll be back in Four Oaks, and as before we'll be permitting rally tires, snow tires, and other aggressive-tread tires to run in the 3 "N" classes.

Why not come out and join us?  Event registration is now open at

http://thscc.com/rallycross/prereg_rallyx.html

Current event info is a little sparse (times, prices, directions are all there), but details will be filled in as they become available.  Check out

http://thscc.com/rallycross/events/2006/2006-0325info.html

for available information.

Hope to see you there!

Hey y'all,

Just a reminder that THSCC's second rallycross of the season is scheduled for this Saturday, March 25th, in Four Oaks, NC.  For those of you who've never been there before, it's a great site, big and flat, with no rocks and nothing to hit.  We run a good event- organized and efficient, but also very easygoing and friendly.  We always give you 6 runs, and have official, audited results, plus handsome trophy plaques, at the end of the day.  Our rallycross program is starting to build momentum now, so I hope you'll come on out and see why for yourself!

For those of you with rally cars, we offer cheap seat time and a chance to do some shakedown before your next event.  Bring your rally tires- we have a place for you to play now, in our NU2, NO2, and NO4 classes.  Our club "Pro", Kevin Allen, thinks he's pretty hot stuff in NO4 in his Subaru 2.5RS, and results seem to bear him out.  Can you wipe that smug grin off his face?  Kevin says "Bring It!"

Event registration is open and filling up nicely, but we'll save room for you. Smiley  Go and sign up online at

http://thscc.com/rallycross/prereg_rallyx.html

It's quick and easy!

Event info, including times, prices, and directions, can be found at

Hope to see you there!

Results from "March Cow Madness" are now posted (have been for a few days, actually) at

http://www.thscc.com/rallycross/events/

It was a good turnout, with 43 drivers in attendance.

In keeping with the spirit of the season, the event featured an NCAA-style bracket elimination in addition to the usual class competition, wherein the 3 afternoon runs were used to pare the fastest 32 drivers down to 4.  The Final Four then each took an additional run to narrow the field to 2, and a final run from each (with the faster driver handicapped) determined the champion!  You can see how that turned out at the link on the results page marked "Bracket Competition".

The event was marred, however, by an incident where one of the competitors rolled his car after the finish line.  It was a low-speed rollover, and the driver was fine.  The officers of this club do, however, take this incident very seriously, as we are committed to bringing you events that are not only fun, but safe.  We've taken a close look at our course design and event operations and have found a few simple changes we can implement for future courses that will not impact the enjoyment of the events but will make a positive difference in terms of safety.  If you have any questions or concerns about the safety of our events, please contact me offline at rallycross_at_thscc_dot_com and I would be happy to discuss it in more detail with you.

Our next event will be Saturday, May 6th, at BMW Farm in Clayton, NC.  Hope to see some of you there!
