Awesome. Best wishes.

Maybe he could sing the national anthem before one of our autocrosses.

Still in....hopefully after tonight. Made top 4, maybe top 3. Anyone watch AI? I haven't in the past, but this puts a new spin on things.

Are you serious?  You haven't watched it?  With your own cousin in it?:duh:
How about the newspaper?  Have you been at least following him there?  I think your Mom might have been quoted in the Richmond-Times this week.
The "Hometown Boy" is doing Richmond proud.

No....I have been watching this season since day one! I just didn't watch it before. We are very proud of Elliott. He has a lot of offers on the table, so he will go far regardless.

I wonder if, now that he's getting other offers, he might be better off blowing it on Idol so he can do his own thing, rather than being stuck in a pop contract.

That has been an ongoing debate:

guaranteed wealth or musical freedom/non-guaranteed exponential wealth. How do you decide?

Since the beginning, I pulled for Elliot.  Now that I find out he's your cousin....... "Go Taylor!!"

 Just kidding  :p

Being closely involved with a band, I'd take the musical freedom and less wealth.  If you're good enough, you'll make just as much wealth.  And you'll feel good about it because it will be your own music, not the crap that's around these days.

It's great that Richmond could be so involved with musical talent, now if we can get some better venues (more of the Lady Bird Hat type), and better national and regional acts.  That'll help out the local scene.

Speaking of which, Everyone who likes to go to Friday Cheers better make it there as much as possible this year.  They're in danger of having to charge admission for next year if this year doesn't turn out that great.  You might have already noticed the schedule is half as long as it was previous years.

I'll be there June 30th, but not for Edwin McCain :bouncep:

I mis-read your message Scott...sorry.
Have our fingers crossed for Elliot.
Either way, sounds like he is going to make out all right.
Good for him...seems to be a nice fellow with lots of talent.
We'll be watching.

Thanks Genie, He made it through and will be visiting the James center for a brief appearance Friday, right outside from where I work! I'm happy for him.

I've never watched, but wish him the best.  So these contestants had to sign a contract to be someone's slave if they win?!?!?!  That totally sucks.

The top prize for the competition is that some producer associated with the show gives you a deal for your first album.  However, the producers of the show also do things like write your first single, decide what your first album will sound like, etc.  I've never followed any of the winners post-win (heck, I didn't even watch the show until a certain relationship demanded it... Wink) but maybe after the first album you actually get to make decisions.  But I have heard of a few non-winners who have made deals of their own with varying degrees of independence.

BTW, Elliott rocked the show this week.  cool  He was the only one who received good reviews from the judges on both performances.  Good times.

Elliot will be at the Diamond Friday night. I understand that it is already sold out. We will be there. You going to be there, Scott?
