I am new to the club and was just wondering if there has historically been a driving school offered in the Spring like the Conedodger training that was held in November.  If there usually is, I'd be interested.   ...Just curious.

Thanks for the info.

I believe we will have two autocross schools this year.  More details to come when our autocross dates are confirmed.

Will the anouncement only be on the forums or will there be an email notice like the event reminders? Just want to make sure I don't miss out.
Thanks,
Brian

We will announce the schools in the forum, and send emails, and add them to the 2006 competition schedule, which will appear on the website sometime soon.

Good to hear Pasha Pattttttttttterson..( damn that sticking key). I might want some extra track time since im still considered a Novice. I'm Currently working on a 1987 Jetta I purchased recently and in the process of freshening up the drive line. (Tranny, clutch, driveshafts and wheel bearings) . I havent gone far enough to see what Stock class im in. (Unlike the MINI) Only possible changes on the car that i can tell are Possibly Lowering springs and a big ol' Fart can exhaust. If you have any Tips or other things i should be looking for I would be grateful.

I'll have some info on some Evolution schools at the end of the month.  I was hoping to work something out with Lonnie, but he never got back with me.  So I have gone another route.  There definitely will be some Evo schools early in the year.......

Will you and Diane be at the Banquet?
We always have a few tables set up for- Year Books, Trophies, sign-up sheets etc.
If you have some printed material, I'm sure we could set it out for anyone interested.

Evolution schools (phases 1 & 2) have been confirmed for Sun Sep 7 @ VMP.  These are by far the best autocross schools in the country.  Junior might even show up and instruct!  Details & pre-reg will be here shortly:

I attended the Evo school at VMP last year. While it was overall a positive experience, I felt somewhat shortchanged as we lost the entire morning of driving practice due to the noise restrictions at VMP not allowing us to start driving until 12:00 noon.

Are there any plans to get an exclusion on those restrictions this time so the students can get the full day of driving instruction that they're paying to get?

As far as I know, you weren't shortchanged and didn't lose anything.  According to the owners of Evo, the program is the same whether it's done in 6 hours or the usual 7-8 hours.  The only difference is how much down time there is between sessions.  It makes for a very busy day as you know, but you aren't getting fewer runs or less valuable info from the instructors... you're just getting fewer breaks in between.

Having said that - VMP is the only available site big enough to do what we want to do.  We could possibly get a noise waiver to run earlier, but the two things keeping us from doing that are 1) people with loud exhaust systems, and 2) people on screechy street tires.  It would be difficult to exclude possible students based on those two criteria just so the day could be more relaxed, particularly since this school will likely lose money as is.  People come to learn quickly and should prepare to be exhausted afterward regardless.  But we wouldn't put 'em on if they couldn't be done just as well as any other Evo school at any other site...

Thanks,

Jon
ps- if you don't believe me, I'm happy to put you in touch with Evo's owners (who will tell you the same thing)
