This thread will be used to post announcements about the latest incarnation of the VMSC event registration site.  If you have any questions about registration, or have problems using the site, please send a U2U or email to the Operator.

Edit: The top post in this thread now displays a list of known issues.
  • (Admin) Modify the autocross entry editing feature so that an administrator may add a new entry in an available slot even if the event is closed.
  • (Admin) User data analysis feature is reporting a bad mySQL resource reference.  This is due to stray apostrophes that made it into the driver ID data before the filter was put into place.
  • (General) Redesign the Main Menu such that each function requires fewer steps.

  • Admin: Updated the new driver request approval form.  If you click the checkbox icon to approve a new driver registration, the application will display the email address and a copy of the text that should be sent to the new driver.

If you sign up for a new account on the registration system, you must provide a valid email address so that the operators can send out a notification when your account is activated.  Account requests that do not contain usable email addresses will be cancelled.  Sad

To all those who have been complaining about not being able to log into Registration... it seems dead.  I will investigate the issue and post an announcement when it is available again.

Update: The host of the VMSC site appears to have upgraded to a new version of the mySQL database engine.  This version includes, among other things, a different encryption method for storing passwords.  Thus, all attempts to match passwords now fail.  I will have to do some rework of both the application and the database in order to account for the new encryption.  It is also likely that all current password information will be lost.  More updates to follow.

Update: The application has been modified to account for the database upgrade.  Things should be working again.  Note: anyone who has created a new account in the last few days may have to have their accounts re-created.  This also applies to anyone who might have changed passwords recently.  If you have any problems, just email operator@vmsc.org.

Lots of people have said that the "withdraw" page no longer works.  I swear I tested this when I wrote it!  It must be bit rot or cosmic rays or something.  Wink  I'm looking into it.

Follow-up to the post on 08 December 2005:

The features that allow you to edit and withdraw entries in autocrosses aren't working.  I will investigate this when I can.

I finally found the bug that was preventing people from editing their own entries and withdrawing from events.  I replaced four lines of insanely crappy and complicated code with a single, elegant line of code that actually works.  So now you can do all that stuff.  Whee.

  • (Admin) Tweaked email template for account activation notices.
  • (Admin) Added data beautification code to the AXware entry report generator.
  • (Users) Fixed a bug that was allowing special characters in new drivers' names to pass through the validation into corresponding user IDs.

  • (Global)  Updated the registration pages so that the formatting is consistent with the rest of the website.  The page headers are generated by a separate function that can be edited once to change the look of the entire application.
