I saw in the email that many of the events are members only. Does that mean you MUST be an official VMSC member to attend those events? If so, that seems like a pretty big change from past years where non-members could participate as well.

The contract with MEP requires that events be at MEP be open only to members. You can be an annual member or a day member. For the last few years, the extra $5 that a person who is not an annual member pays buys a day membership. Bottom line, no changes on regular autocrosses.

On the practice autocross at MEP, annual members will get first shot at registration. Once registraiton has been open for a couple of weeks, any remaining slots will be made available to people who are not annual members. The cost of the practice autocross for people who aren't annual members will include a day membership.

Hope this makes it clear that the only real change is the first priority for the practice autocross for annual members. Let us know if you have additional questions.

 Like Wahoo said you have to be a member per the contract so VMSC offers a short membership (day) 5 bones.
