Just bought a Dannmar "Max Jax" lift. I thought this might be of general interest, since it's designed for small garages where you may not have a high ceiling and/or you don't want something permanently installed. You can read the mfr's site for the specifics, but here are the highlights: - Two post hydraulic lift with adjustable arms
- Posts bolt to concrete floor when in use; unbolt and roll away when done
- Max load 6000 lbs
- Max rise 45" (which is why it works with low ceilings)
- Requires minimum 3000 psi, 4" thick concrete slab
I've started a Facebook photo album with pics of the installation process, hope to keep it updated as I go along. Today was just the unboxing; plan to assemble the hydraulic system later this weekend. I think that just leaves drilling some holes and installing the bolt anchors.... how hard could that be? Beth

Nice. You may want to consider renting a rotary hammer. That'll make drilling through the concrete much, much faster.

Look forward to seeing the photos as you install the lift. What was the final verdict on the 911?

Engine replacement. But the good news is, all should be well for plenty of miles after that. Don't know if I'll have her broken in by the 20th though - may have to scope out a temporary replacement. b.

BTW I adjusted the privacy settings on the FB album. If you weren't able to access it before, you should be able to now.

I heard a lot of good stuff about these lifts. I'm looking at a 2 post lift as well for me detached garage, however, since I have 10ft ceiling I will go with something like this This will make it much more easier to remove and install the engine. I have already a 4 post in my attached garage, and it's good for everything, but to drop the engine.

A core drill! Thought they were just for big holes though? The anchors only need 7/8" diam. I'm hoping to get the pieces assembled this week, and be ready to install the anchors by the weekend. That's the plan, at least...

I've got most of the large pieces assembled now. Facebook album has been updated with more photos. I'm hoping to hold the anchor-drilling and install party this weekend...

Will do! I'm thinking tomorrow afternoon, but that's still tentative. Gotta find out where/when I can rent a rotary hammer drill.

Lift is installed and operational! Couldn't have done it without help, thanks again. The FB album has been updated with a few more photos. (By lucky coincidence, there was a Toyota MR2 handy to test it with. ) This thing is awesome. b.
