I am bringing my two grandson's up for summer. (17 & 16 yr olds) and want to find a safe area to teach them handling charateristics of my porsche.  they both drive and have licences but I want to let them drive my car in autocross and would prefer to find a place for them to practice in Richmond or Charlottesville VA area. Does anyone know of a place that would allow this

Hi, unfortunately the only legal practice for autocross I know of is at an autocross or other motorsport event.  We do have a practice autocross (informal, non points) event in August that would get them a bunch of seat time.  I wouldn't worry too much about bringing them to our June and July events and letting them at the course as long as they know what to do if they get in over their head.  Realistically, their first couple times they are going to need to drive the course, rather than the car if you know what I mean.
